Interesting Information About the REAL ID

I was specifically commenting on the purported “information” that was presented under the heading “National ID-Citizen’s Council for Health and Freedom” This is not information, it’s political opinion and a consipiracy theory hack. Real ID unconstitutional? Will be used to track and control movement and purchases? Gimme a break. Notaries don’t create ID’s nor do they determine what goes into them, the necessary data, or how it is used. This is no place for a polemic.

I never looked at it that closely because it was after a different conversation about the Real ID. Sorry. It really was the continuation of a discussion being held on a different thread about the Real ID vs an Enhanced ID. Didn’t mean to ruffle feathers.

Was this other thread on notarycafe or someplace else. I can’t find it.

I don’t remember exactly but here was a conversations about if an ID that was not an enhanced in WA State could be accepted as ID and then this conversation about Real ID was started following it up.

That’s how it seemed to me anyway. In the thread about accepting ID in WA state that was not enhanced the real ID came up. Personally I never took I as conspiracy theory stuff jus someone talking

I had a signer last week with a CDL license from ID and they REALLY muddy the waters by printing this identification does not meet Real ID standards right on the license in red.

And because of this thread about the real ID I didn’t question whether I could take it although I did a double take because I thought I was a strange thing to put on a. License.

The signer said “ the state tries to shame you into spending he extra money on a Real ID.”

WA Enhanced Driver License ID and Real IDs same animal just titled different in each state. I have salt & pepper colored hair and on my Enhanced License hair looks totally white and I look bald ~ crazy! I’m 76 years old and WA states have to renew license in person every year. I get they are looking for older people that should not be driving but they should prorate fees for one year. No bus service in my neck of the woods so seniors are facing future difficulty. Thankful my vision is good, no tickets and drive very well. Next year will be my last year as Mobile Notary due to increased WA DOL demands for seniors. Too bad they don’t make more severe penalties for drunk drivers.

In other states, like Vermont, there are two different licenses (or non-driver IDs) available that both serve as Real ID. The enhanced and the Real ID both let you fly domestically and get into certain federal facilities. The enhanced allows you to travel to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean by land or water without having to carry a passport; the Real ID doesn’t.

But it might not be a good idea because you might have to fly home suddenly, and you wouldn’t be able to without a passport.

Hi again Johnsonps306 ~ like reading your comments. WA State D/L changes has added to my list for Bonney Lake WA frustrations. WA State auto registration we also have been paying transit tax for years and we have no transit service. Now that many seniors won’t be able to drive in the future they have been paying for a service that they won’t be able to use. Notary business will also be affected due to semi hitting White River Bridge between Buckley and Enumclaw. Buckley is 3 miles from Bonney Lake. Bridge closed indefinitely and no funds to repair or replace. 22,000 vehicles used this bridge daily and local business is down to 20%. I have been performing notarizations using Starbucks location with people driving 2 hours around from Enumclaw. Enumclaw has many multi million homes and will have a strong impact on property values. Another town in area Wilkeson has also been affected from another similar bridge incident. Since next year is my last year for mobile notarizations will not affect my business goals. Will still perform local general notary work but not working for real estate type signings in future. I will also relocate to another area in WA that has transportation options for able bodied functioning seniors and no longer drive automobiles. Will have back up small transportation. Currently in Olympia WA more laws pending to restrict seniors from driving such as dementia review, body mobility reviews, additional vision reviews, etc. In the interim, DUI drivers get released from court and continue to drive around because restrictions too difficult to enforce. Seniors have tendency to obey the law. I have expressed my frustrations to Olympia, AARP, and others but don’t anticipate a response. Sharing information here for other senior Notaries should this situation occur in your state.

I wondered why I was getting requests for Bonney Lake and Buckley because I don’t ever go to the west side. I have seen 3 or 4 this week so now I understand why.

At 63 maybe I am not considered senior yet. I have a 76 year old sister who honestly shouldn’t drive she has cameras and managed to hit a car in the parking lot.

Have to renew my DL this year. I usually do it online because I don’t have the Enhanced. Tags are due the same time.

And car insurance Jesus it goes up no matter what you do.

Getting older isn’t for wussies that’s for sure. Here’s to a mighty September!

@alice2uworld I can just barely wait to see photos! :tada::partying_face::tada:

WA State is working driver restrictions to start at 65 years. At 70 years can no longer renew drivers license online. At young age of 63 renew online while you can for longest duration possible. Last Friday 10 requests RE signings Bonney Lake, Buckley and Lake Tapps. Last minute requests for within next hour and those are definite NO. I’m booked for rest of this week then heading to NC for 2 weeks. Surprised my auto insurance went down this year. Your right ~ getting older isn’t for wussies and as an outspoken native of Berkeley CA will continue to protest Olympia WA because I know in my heart tried to do right thing.
