Excellent company to work for. They pay decent and payment is within a week of closing. I highly recommend.

I had my first problem . First American sends all their docs on legal. I happened to be talking to someone from First American and she said that was there policy. I said it forces me to look at every doc to see which tray to print from. *fee increase)

Her call was about not getting scans. They always want scans. Job order from JOT said no scans. I don’t read minds nor do I keep a chart of who wants what. Put it in writing. I can follow orders.

But I love their fast pay!

If you upload your document to this site, it will filter which docs are letter size and which are legal size … no need to review each individual document. Notary Rotary PDF Page Sorter for Legal/Letter

I don’t think so. They are all scanned legal. My printer prints correctly but it sees the pages as legal. I think that I figured out a work around.

You can set up a printer to print letter from tray and legal from the by pass tray. No switching trays. No issues with documents. We’re expected to have the appropriate equipment for the job. If you don’t have a dual tray set up the by pass for legal. They always want scans, until you’ve done so many without a mistake they say “you don’t have to scan it”. I rarely have to scan for First American.

In the past, First American Signature Services/Jot Closings held a top spot among my preferred companies. However, I always found their “White Glove” designation to be somewhat off-putting, as I perceived it as a tactic to circumvent any opportunity for fee negotiation. Furthermore, I observed a gradual decline in their fee structure, ultimately positioning it at the lower end of what I typically earn from other reputable companies in the industry. It’s important to acknowledge that First American Signature Services (FASS) is widely recognized within the industry as one of the leading title companies and signing services. Positive side of things, FASS pays on a weekly time frame. I would be happy to handle their assignments, if the fee meets my expectation.

I can asure you that First American doesn’t send all their docs on legal. I have a First American Refi today that is all letter size. The individual office you worked for may scan theirs as all legal, but it is not all First American offices. I have had other title companies scan everything as legal.

Their fees usually come in around $175. Does that not meet your expectations?

@cfletcher – Reading your post got me thinking. Many, many years ago, I used to work with FASS. That relationship ended when their fees went low and they weren’t open to negotiate.

I first heard of and started working with JOT in 2024. Love, love, love them! They meet my fees and pay weekly. Easy to work with and fast and easy communication.

I was under the impression FASS and JOT were 2 completely different and separate animals – with no other connection other than working with First American Title. Well, after reading your post, I had to do a little research. For anyone else wondering, this is what I came up with:

Copilot search answer to “Is First American Signing Solutions the same as signwithJOT?”

Yes — “First American Signing Solutions” is essentially the same as the Jot platform, which is marketed under the “SignWithJot” name.

First American Financial Corporation owns Endpoint, a digital title and settlement company that launched Jot™ in 2023 to connect experienced notary signing agents with real estate closings managed by First American and Endpoint First American**+1**. Jot is a proprietary platform that matches buyers and sellers with qualified notaries, automates payments, and provides tools and resources to help notaries manage their business First American**+1**.

When you sign up for Jot, you are joining the First American Signing Solutions network — the official name for the notary service platform operated by First American through Endpoint HousingWire. The “SignWithJot” website (www.signwithjot.com) is the public-facing portal where notaries can register, view signing opportunities, and access the platform’s features www.signwithjot.com.

In short:

  • First American Signing Solutions = the official name of the notary service program.
  • Jot™ = the proprietary platform and technology behind it.
  • SignWithJot = the public website and brand used to promote and onboard notaries into the program.

So, if you see “First American Signing Solutions” in a contract or onboarding document, it’s the same service you access by signing up at signwithjot.com.

Thanks for mentioning FASS, Carl!

@yolicue Thanks for your comment. I am already on their database.

@steves11 , that’s not a horrible amount, but still on my low end. I just haven’t seen Jot offer that amount in my geographical market area. I think the highest fee I seen Jot offer in my area was in the ballpark of a $100.

SIGN UP IMMEDIATELY AND MAKE $$ FAIR FEES QUICK PAYMENT. Excellent company :slightly_smiling_face:

My only complaint is that the job offers I’m receiving from them are few and far between.

I was actually listed in one of their notary newsletter as the notary of the month. I asked around a lot.

So sometimes the escrow officers in specific offices have preferred notaries and those orders get sent to their preferred notaries first. If the preferred notary is not available they send them out on the platform.

If you don’t see any orders in your area - it’s possible there are notaries they go to first and those orders are not seen.

That could very well be, which isn’t very encouraging. I just recently signed up with them so that I would be way down the so-called totem pole as far as priority goes.

Pay well but no response with problems — at least the ones I’ve signed with so far. Don’t always have problems but I’ve had a hard time getting a reply if I do.
