Mortgage Connect - will wonders never cease?!?

During the pandemic shutdown, I worked A LOT with Mortgage Connect, without ever an issue on fees or payment. Then, their fees dropped dramatically. Sorry, no can do.

I still get their blast offers – all very low – and I’ll counteroffer many of them. No response. Until today.

This morning received a blast offer for tomorrow for the town next to me. Of course, the fee was low, so I countered. Approximately an hour later, BAM, there’s an email advising here’s my confirmation for the $200 countered fee. Happily surprised!!

Note to self: Avoid payment issues. Submit invoice.

This is the only industry that I know of in which the buyer of services dictates the fee to the seller of services. The only time I ever get an offer from Mortgage Connect that is anywhere close to anything I’d accept is on very last minute signings, over 50 miles from me. No thanks!

Wow…..very nice……wouldn’t it be great if they (Mortgage Connect) did this ALL the time instead of low ball offers!!! I wonder who does their signings….when they pay so low and they add some much extra paperwork and documents to be notarized?!! I’ve seen other notaries try Mortgage Connect only to be so frustrated with the pay and all them demand from the notary.

Congrats on this one working out for you…..Hope they value you and send you more work!

Be sure to invoice online via the portal. With their template. After 3 days.

Keep countering! I get a feeling some summertime notaries are back to school or are taking the winter off. Getting more offers daily and less of the $5 bumps - just getting confirmed.

Glad you had a positive result.

Consider this, Steve - some notaries come here and say I won’t take their orders for less than X amount. And some notaries keep track of the notaries who are in their generally area so they counter offer X minus five dollars and get those orders.

You just don’t know.

Thanks for the info! Will do.

While you can get orders with a bad grade I notice you get a lot more with a good grade.

They are loading me up and it’s awesome.

Wow, all the errors they had in October were removed. I had sent an email that said I was fairly certain I had not missed any of the boxes that needed a check mark. Because it was at a really low grade - I checked today on payable for today and they had removed the errors and returned my A.

I just encourage people to check the error reports. They are not always accurate, apparently.

That was cool.

@SteveU  Yes, does make one wonder . . .

I did 15 last month. None at a loss. But several went for lower than I’d do them. I can’t help thinking some of these low ballers are going to drive themselves out of the business.

@SteveU :balloon: Concur! :balloon: MC has met my fee on a rate occasion from time-to-time  but certainly not very often.

Your query is SPOT ON when you posed:

:woman_shrugging:

NOTE: Not when MC meets a reasonable fee.

Because they don’t meet a notary’s counter offer, doesn’t mean they didn’t pay another notary more than the offer but less than a notary. No one is privy to what they actually ended up paying a notary. So it’s pretty unrealistic to encourage the idea they just pay low and that’s all they pay. IMO.

@yolicue :white_check_mark: Concur :white_check_mark: This is true for nearly all Professional Signing Agents [PSAs].

@steves11 :white_check_mark: Same! :white_check_mark: There may be some REMOTE regions of the US where MC will pay a higher fee, but not for most PSAs.

NOTE: Each business owner must make their own determination regarding is the Fee will work for their Business Plan (or not). To all new Notary Cafe Members => Reference my detailed thread about this topic:

All it takes is first-hand direct experience of receiving the lowball Signing Order [SO] offers to easily realize the TRUTH of the MC Fees. :white_check_mark:
