Anyone have any advice?

@notarygirlny Sorry to read about your difficulties receiving Signing Orders [SOs] from business entities.

Truly, launching a business within this business sector of the industry (like many entrepreneurial businesses) is a slog to get things going regarding SOs.

The YouTube videos hawking “it’s EASY PEASY to make $100K/year” has been debunked repeatedly . . .

Unfortunately, folks do still decide to “invest” in the used car salesman tactics of bait & switch! They tell you if you’re not receiving SOs to just launch a Signing Service & you’ll be living in a McMansion next week . . .

UGH!!

This segment of the business industry has been in a strong downward spiral regarding volume of SOs and increasingly LOWER fees for many years, but especially since ‘post-COVID-19,’ etc.

I and the other sages on the Notary Cafe forum regularly endeavor to help new forum members grasp the reality of the unadulterated truth of the current state of this business sector - myriad variables in the financial & real estate markets are negatively affecting this industry.

First, cNsa5’s post is spot on. Read it all and heed the advice.
Second, just so you know, understand there is no way to know whether you’re ‘the first to click’. Even if, in fact, you were the first, it isn’t an automatic thing. Many respond; 1 gets the job.
Third, you’ll only annoy a company by calling & whining.
Checking how much competition in your area will give you an idea of what you’re up against in a nearly dead market. Also advising that accepting the first offer made by a company most likely will result in no profit–maybe even a loss to you. While waiting for the 1st one, figure out your costs or I guarantee you’ll be working for free.
FWIW: I’ve been doing this for 30 years and this year is the worst I’ve seen. ONLY reason I’m still in the game is I’m older 'n dirt and have other income & nothing better to do most days.
