Odd requests

I taped it. I introduced the signer and myself and asked her permission adding her buyout company had requested it. She agreed and we continued.

I agree!! I had a lady come to me to notarize a document that she didn’t have. I said I couldn’t so she was distraught about not being able to get her inheritance. Another situation I had was a guy that just wanted me to stamp a letter without the notary verbiage on it. I had him select a proper addition to the document but he said some other people he knew just had a notary do the stamp. Diligence is so important and we need to remember the rules.

In a situation where it’s RON and is being recorded anyway I would still be cautious.of my words and mannerisms. However I mean I still ask themā€ This session is being video and audio recorded do you consent?ā€/agreeā€ and wait for an answer in the affirmative before continuing , but in person I would feel a bit weird about it . I already feel different during RON as I know I’m being recorded.

I received one like that and I just refused, I am just a notary to witness the signature no videographer, it’s a lot of legal stuff around that particular situation, privacy, writes, personal information etc.

No, I have not come across anything like that yet.

I agree. What I’m noticing more and more are the competitiveness with corporations and leadership. Some of the styles of leadership include redesigning the industry of corporate policies and causing an influence in the law. I presume to satisfy greed. If something hints at unethically it probably is. Don’t take the bait. When we do take the bait in the long run few prosper and the majority suffer. Guess who’s left holding the bag? Sure it sounds legal, as long as no one objects.

I have done a signing like this where the client had to read on camera, she was the hair I believe to the property from her deceased husband.

The difference: RON is conducted on an approved platform by SOS (most states). Videoing an in person notarial ceremony using a phone camera etc. is not the same as a RON ceremony.

The closest thing was signing in a real estate office and a man came up with his phone and said the realtor wanted a video to commemorate the signing. He said that I would not appear in the recording. Then he disappeared. It was odd, I was at the same table for two hours, Buyer, Seller and never saw him again.
