This is horrifying! It seems your hiring party doesn’t appreciate the time, patience, and reams of paper that are involved in a Reverse Mortgage. I should think MOST signers, being of a certain age, would have variations in their signatures. Not only do many have physical limitations, but there are A LOT of signatures involved. It can be a strenuous and painful appointment for a senior. These factors should be considered re: your fee. Their ridiculous request and punitive nature indicate that they are in need of experience with this particular loan product, not to mention running a business in general. I would’ve asked for a shipping label and a trip fee. What a sleazy operation. Their treatment of you is truly reprehensible! If they cut your fee, I suggest reporting them to their state’s SOS.
Absolutely totally completely agree.
In my opinion it doesn’t warrant “reporting” because signature variation is an opinion that would be impossible to call a lie - or even questionable. So I sent an email to the company indicating why I believe the reduction in fee was unwarranted and will see if they respond by returning the fee to the agreed upon fee.
It’s a signing service that I work with and have never had this issue. I’ll let you know what happens. In my previous professional experience, you can’t accuse people of wrong doing or be super abrasive and expect things to go your way. It’s just not my style. So we’ll see what happens. I’ll adjust future counteroffers accordingly.
My last RM was sent to me by a crafty scheduler who didn’t disclose it. She waited an hour before the preset appointment time to send a 350+ page attachment along with a scan back requirement. Luckily, the signer was a young senior that was OK with a point and sign method that I used to get this done in a reasonable amount of time.
I’m surprised you took an undisclosed RM of 350 pages plus scan (excessive even for RM) without renegotiating what surely looks like a deliberate deception. Say it ain’t so, Joe…unless you’d already negotiated a very high fee (which is now just average).
12 years ago. I haven’t accepted one since.
