Too many new notaries read Closing Disclosures or posts like this one and think they are getting ripped off or are owed more than they get offered. Just saying.
Of course it is not a guarantee, PeggySue. I didnāt say it was a guarantee I said it was interesting and a perhaps a cause to consider what we are or are not getting paid.
But it is misleading. New notaries come here for advice and to learn stuff because maybe they donāt have a mentor. How many times have you seen someone new post about how unfair it was they only got a $100 fee and the Closing Disclosure listed $600 for notary services. List the costs to a signing service or title company. We donāt pay those fees so how fair is it to invite the idea that if they charge $495 for a standard signing that they should just hand over half to us. And thatās what happens. I think itās best to do what we all do set a fee based on our time and our costs and thatās the fee. I personally donāt raise my standard fee annually but I have raised travel and rural service fees and print fees.
Some things like what a title company charges their customers people can go to Google U for themselves. Thatās just my opinion.
@johnsonps306 Absolutely! Concur percent with your admonition in this regard & the glaring lack of responsibility.
Just one more person coming on the Notary Cafe forum selling their wares to the uninformed who are endeavoring to launch a new business in an already saturated & depleted market sector, which is an additional level of irresponsibility.
