Well it finally happened to me

Yeah, it’s hard for me to understand why someone drives 1-2-3 hours, often in bad weather and through the mountains to do a $175 signing. And then, not have a Fedex or UPS store close enough to preclude the problems spoken about in these forums. I realize that being a notary is a prestigious, sought-after, ■■■■ profession, but come on. The juice sure ain’t worth the squeeze ro put up with all that.

I know, I know, many of you see it quite differently. No one has to justify for me why they endure the long drives and distant drop points. But it sure would be interesting to hear a rationale point of view that for now, escapes me.

AND, I KNOW how fortunate I am to do this work in the garden spot of the U.S., I’m NOT criticizing, just wondering.

ups will come to me for abut $30(even with the prepaid label ) and the guy drives these back country roads where my neighbors go for walks with their dogs like a jack @@@, he goes about 50 mph and doesn’t care , so its a real privilege to pay for that. Fed ex also charges me about the same for a pick up , so it kind of bad if I do it that way. I have done it a few times but really try not to since ups doesn’t necessarily even show up for the actual day its scheduled for the pick up(day after the signing ) so its delayed and I feel guilty as it sits on my front porch not making its way to title. Fed ex won’t make false pick up promises but they usually put it out a day anyway since no-one was scheduled to come all the way out here for a delivery so its just a really crappy situation that isn’t a win for me.I’m better off driving the hour to leave it in a drop box and hope for the best .

It was more worth it when I lived in the city, now that I’m rural the drop is a problem and it has made me question myself and the price structure I once used has had to be shifted to make it worth it to leave my house . I still will go for my direct client as they pay well enough , but these signing services offers are less….appealing lets say unless they are in your ballpark.

I did send them the receipt and they took it from there and left me out of it since I had the proof I had dropped it.

I always get a receipt and put it on the back of the order so that if something happen. I will have the receipt.

Exactly, I do the same. My dropoff knows and is always ready with her scanner to give me a receipt unless she is slammed and I am busy, that is the only time I don’t get a receipt.

Local authorized shipping center does not give receipts. FedEx and UPS have so many portals available for their receipt machines in any given geographical area. In rural areas it’s not uncommon for a shipping center to not have the capability. When this is communicated and you can say it’s a reliable shipping center it’s rarely a problem.

I live in a remote area, any place that ships UPS and FedEx can create a receipt, fact known, they just don’t want to do it. I have even gotten them from actual UPS and FedEx stores as well. So, I am uncertain of what you are talking about, the only thing you cannot get a receipt from is a dropbox and they specifically do not want them dropped there. If possible I can usually schedule a pickup from FedEx from my office or my home even on Saturday, but the local drop places aren’t open on Saturday’s. UPS doesn’t pickup in our towns on Saturday without a fee, and I am cheap. If I am driving somewhere and there is a UPS store in route and they are picking up that day, I will drop there and get a receipt.

Correct, that every area is not the same, but most businesses get receipts and their customers want to be able to track, they also want a picture of the document.

I’m like you, if I am going to be near a center that gives receipts I go there.

I’m talking about a FedEx system generated receipt. Not every authorized ship center has those.

But the truth is we all encounter different situations. People aren’t necessarily wrong when their situation is different from our own.

I agree, but you have to let the signing company know up front of those situations, otherwise they expect those receipts. Also, it is polite to communicate your restraints on certain requirements.

Oh man you are making me nervous. The closest FedEx drop off to me is about 45 minutes each way. I am not making that drive most of the time and just drop it off at a local business where FedEx picks up everyday. No receipt is available. I always take a picture of the package and shipping label once I get it over to the clerk at the store. Does that seem like enough? I thought so before but now I am not sure

Most hiring companies do not want anything left in a drop box. You could have the clerk initial the copy of the shipping label I suppose. Don’t let it stress you, just clearly communicate your local shipping constraints. If someone asks me to drive to the FedEx site at the airport in either direction, it’s a courier fee. And you could just communicate that if they absolutely require a FedEx receipt from FedEx you require a courier fee of $50.

Just be sure wherever you are dropping it you believe it’s reliable. For instance I say “this will track when it’s scanned onto the FedEx truck which is by 1:15pm usually”.

That works with my customers. I don’t take pictures. I just state “this is dropped it will track at x o’clock”.

If I am driving to where there’s a FedEx shipping center I’ll take anything there and get a receipt.

Just communicate clearly.
