Wondering what You Think

I guess I`m wondering what people think about Service Link?

They play a ‘race to the bottom’ game. They’ll tell you to reduce your fee to get much more volume. If you do, they’ll call the next notary & tell them the same thing. Repeat endlessly. The volume isn’t there, but low fees sure are!

@bruce Hmmm . . .

Extremely low Fees for MANY years

Very low amount of available Signing Orders [SOs]

Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] are simply a commodity to that business entity

@bruce Also, keep in mind that the Notary Cafe forums are PUBLIC platforms.

As such, posts are available for public viewing.

Don’t work for that company. I guess that’s what I think.

Getting ready to cut ties because of their insultingly low fees $70 to drive 30 min each way for a refi w scan backs! Ya no! My time is more valuable than that!

Only 2 orders with them so far. Both for $125. First one has paid, 2nd one is coming up on 30 days so should be paying soon. I don’t anticipate getting much from them but so far, I have no reason to stop doing business with them

No one is insulting anyone. They’re responding to what the market bears. If it doesn’t bear a $70 fee they’ll stop offering that. Don’t take any of it personally.

I don’t think anything drives me crazier than this statement here. Exactly WHO determines what the “market will bear”?? Seems to me if ANY company is still pushing $70 fees (or less, or anything under at least $100 for that matter) they have absolutely NO idea what the market will bear and have no consideration for the increased costs assumed by the notary/signing agent.

SL pulled this on me 15 years ago and told me THEN that my fee should be $85 or less to get assignments - point being, they’ve been pulling this crap for far longer than anyone can imagine. Yet buyers/borrowers/signers are still paying their fee.

Yes, it’s insulting
and no, I don’t do signings any more (before that comes up) but I"m glad I don’t - not at that very low, unprofessional fee.

My $.02 FWIW

No they’re not ‘responding’. They are playing the same game they’ve always played and newbs fall right into their get experience, lower fee for volume horsefeathers. These are fees from 2010: $125.00
$125.00
$125.00
$150.00
$125.00
$125.00
$125.00
$125.00
All local. When they started the game, I pretty much stopped working for them, so it’s now maybe 1 -2 per year & pay for those is around $200.

If you work all the time at your published fee it seems the market will bear it.

I’ve said it many times, there is no insult in any of this. People take it personal when it’s just business. Companies want a higher profit rate and notaries tolerate it? That’s not insulting that’s notaries not aware of what they can charge and get paid.

Not only are their fees low but they cut your fee (in my case $20) for any error, even if it’s minor, something you quickly fixed, and didn’t cause a delay. Then they rate you every month with the goal being less than 2% error rate. Mind you the packages are 100-175 pages with many dates, names, initials and other areas for to be filled out to guide the signers though. I think they may be using AI now to catch mistake??? Not sure on that, but they have very high quality control on files, which is good, but they are harsh on needing corrections, so beware of that if you take a job from them as well.

100% correct. They don’t pay well

I have done a lot of work for servicelink, I don’t reduce my fees however. They have a right to look for other notaries, just like I have the right to price my fees. I don’t negotiate, I don’t bargain, my fees are fixed. If they want professional work, they call me, I usually have to go out and fix someone elses work anyway.

Bruce, you really want to know?? I’ve worked here and there for them, small packages that pay quickly and fair fee for number of pages. HOWEVER, I had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow at 3pm. It’s a refi for $100. Skeptical, yes but banked on the fact that it might be a small package. It’s been scheduled and confirmed for over a week. Today at 4pm I received an email that it has been reassigned to another agent. When I asked for an explanation all I was told was “per lender request”. I call BS. We are supposed to be at their beck and call (tracked via our phone and a monthly “scorecard”) but when the tables turn it’s just to bad for you. Ridiculous to say the least! I could go on but what’s the point. Lots of signing services I love working for and have no issues! TTFN
