Wrong Dates

I was hired to do a re-sign of a refi package. The first package (another notary) had printing errors and the whole thing had to be redone. The package I received was all Letter PDF size and The Note, the Deed, all of the documents were dated Feb 10th (a month ago), I did not change any dates except on the right to cancel. We signed everything and dated in necessary places todays date. Today is Sunday- there no one to call or email ( I tried) regarding dates and letter/legal PDF but I printed what I was given:) I just hope I did not make a mistake with not changing dates- I had not come across this before

:scream: …

Did you call the title company before proceeding with the wrong dates printed? I wouldn’t have even gone to the appointment without written permission to proceed with the wrong dates.

Agreed. Laws vary by state but I do think at minimum there’s a real problem when a note has a date from a month prior.

I could not get anyone to answer me , it was Sunday docs did not come in until a few hours prior .In everything I could find online it was mentioned never to post date but nothing about earlier dates .

I’m curious why it took title and lender an entire month to realize their docs were unacceptable and needed to be re-signed.

Personally, I think new docs were in order, especially since a month later the CD would be entirely different - unless they’ve already funded the loan then discovered the problem? Doesn’t sound right.

Did the borrowers give you any hint about why and what happened?

I just got off phone with title , it sounds like I did ok they said never change dates on note or deed. So the loan papers prior were full of “Wingdings” and the borrowers wife had also previously signed and she was not supposed to. I dated everything current where we were required to date and title said that was correct . I still don’t like that there was no direction and no one to contact ! I had this last minute as what I thought was a refi
