I completed a HELOC for a local lender, and one of the documents is verifying the full borrower information, which I need to make any corrections if he information doesn’t match with the ID, most of the time it’s the driver’s license. Today I received a phone call saying I made a mistake because I didn’t correct the last 4 digits driver’s license zipcode, and for the next time I will be suspended for 30 days, not receiving any orders from them.
I was highly surprised, because for years I have been performing signing for this title company with no issues at all. I know it was my mistake, but this is a minor error, but be suspended or 30 days in a future?
I myself care. Notary experiences of what could happen let me adjust best practices to error proof my process. Using plus 4 will never be wrong on an address. And if someone out there rejects when plus 4 is missing - I will just adopt the plus 4.
wow I want to say thats petty, but I see it on both sides. I used to work at the post office and even they don’t use the last 4 really anymore . It would be more fair if it was something you were told to be aware of , as this is a new one for me. I’m sorry they dinged you for it . I also appreciate the warning as I will now be doing the last 4
I’ve never been told that either. To penalize the notary for that (on the first offense) is really petty. If they’re going to suspend a notary every time something like that happens, they won’t have any left to do their closings.
I have been doing many closings for several Title Companies, and this is the first time was told about it.
I need to clarify this issue. Reviewing my emails, I found wasn’t ORT, about the zipcode, sorry it’s confused me, the 4 digits zipcode was from another title co, ORT asked me that RTC was cut off the bottom of the page when I scanned, but the original was ok with legal size paper. Again, is still something ridiculous about the 4 digits of the zipcodes.
I think you’re lucky. At least for the next 30 days you will not be harassed by them. (We second guess ourselves on whether to work with a company or not)
