I have a question, where the answer may be obvious but I can’t find anything in my state’s laws (NY) pertaining to this. I received my stamp, but the is an error on the county I’m qualified in. My stamp read’s qualified in Westchester County County, but should read qualified in Westchester County. I am waiting on my replacement from the company, but am getting calls for general notary and having to turn it down as I am not sure if the error will invalidate my seal. Has anyone else ever encountered this?
Are your sure a stamp is required in the State of New York? Or is it just a matter of the customer wanting a stamp?
I’m not 100% sure. I will check my state laws. Thank you
If there is an error on your stamp, get it fixed before you start doing any notarizing. Your state laws will dictate what that is supposed to look like but if you plan to do real estate transactions, you carry larger risks and any error on your seal will prevent documents from being recorded and you could end up getting sued if you cannot correct the error
