Counter Offer after midnight

There’s a location a good distance away that I have a set fee for and it’s considered high - but it’s not really.

And after countering last night - pretty late I went to bed. I get up and I’m an early bird and the job was offered again at the counter fee - not direct assigned.

Which I thought was sort of odd, usually I just get assigned a job when they accept my counter.

I guess someone countered that fee faster than I did or there was more than one of us at that fee.

That was disappointing. But we have winter weather so someone else can enjoy that 4 hours on the road today.

I’ve had that happen, too. Disappointing, but after your recent ‘no lights’ experience, I think you probably dodged a 4 hr winter weather bullet.

OK, I live in sunny Southern California (we get fires instead of snowstorms). I cannot relate to any order that requires a 2-hour drive (in any weather). Y’all mean to tell me that you actually take jobs that require more than an hour’s drive one way??? What kinda fee do you get for that?

@Bobby-CA - I’m in Northern California (Sacramento Metro Area) and have traveled to (examples) South Lake Tahoe (2hr 10m drive) and also Portola (2.5 hours’ drive) and other 2+ hours’ drive signings. Regardless of the type of package, the fee is $475 (depending on circumstances, I may try for more but will settle for that).

In Eastern Washington you have to drive forever to get anywhere. There are no cities. Some routes are just 2 lane highways. Knowing what the market will bear is a good idea. And it won’t bear fees over $400 in this area. That’s the reality of working in this region.
