I’m beginning to notice it’s often the same companies that are late with documents.
I’m not going to be on time this afternoon if they’re much later and I have a 5pm appointment that the wife says now my husband has school at 5:30.
Who thought 30 minutes was time enough? Now I’m irritated I didn’t take the long distance order after all. I have to leave a little after noon, sign out of county, rush back to print and then hope the signer doesn’t cancel for school or that documents are later than 3 and I can’t make the deadline for the appointment anyway.
And the contact says “lenders are busy right now at the end of the month”.
I’ve made it a point to give a deadline for docs during the initial call – whether it’s the evening prior or several hours prior – and let them know why (2 hour drive, commute traffic, busy schedule, etc.). If it’s not possible … catch me on the next one and thanks for keeping me in mind!
IMO, someone’s inefficiency does not make it my emergency.
When I did signings, there were many times borrowers had been told, and believed, that only 30 minutes was required. I blamed that on bad info from Loan Officers.
I ended up removing myself from the order because I knew it was gonna be an issue with the signers as far as the length of the appointment and I was not going to drive all the way back to print and then double back to sign and as soon as I remove myself, I got another order this evening that pays a little more For which the documents are up.
I also received three different orders come through at the fee that I countered yesterday and they waited so long to accept my counter offer. I’m not available. It will be interesting to see if those orders appear tomorrow
I try to be accommodating but lately I’ve been getting three orders a day and to be successful with the full calendar documents have to be ready. I don’t think it’s appropriate to ask a Notary to turn down Work because they have to wait for documents.
