I have recently started working with Mortgage Connect. I have completed 2 signings and have 4 in the pipeline. When the order first comes through the offer is really bad - about $45 to $60. I know, shameful. I make a counter offer every single time and it never gets accepted. I don’t have a quality grade yet. It seems like I remember someone on this forum saying that her/his counter offers all ways get accepted. I am wondering has anyone else had this issue? is there any resolution? Is it because I don’t have a quality grade yet? How many signings have you done with them?
Hi Kim, I have done a ton of work for Mortgage Connect I like them a lot.
I have had grades ranging from A to F. Review the reason behind your grade. In some cases I have had grades changed when reported errors were not errors. I don’t dwell on it or spend lots of time on it because 1) you get orders offers no matter the grade and 2) the grade changes every month. You do get a lot more offers when you have the grade of A.
But I work for over a dozen sites so I don’t lose sleep when it’s C like it has been in January. I just try very hard to get back to A.
If you have just 2 orders you won’t get a grade yet. Counter whenever it’s right to counter. I get paid what I ask for. I don’t get a lot of local jobs because local notaries are accepting those $70 offers and I do not, but I’ve built a niche for counties with limited notary presence and get most of those orders. There are also a few closing officers who ask schedulers to reach me first.
Overall, I’ve done - not sure maybe over 200. I don’t keep track. But I’ve been averaging 12-20 a month with them.
Late last year I asked Mortgage Connect to stop sending me all the $45 deals they were offering. I took two, midyear and it took forever to collect my fee, though I did, without incident. In about 90 days. When a supervisor got my note about discontinuing emails and text offers. he called me and said I was one of their top notaries, that my work was great (I had nice rating sheet)and that he had so many signings in my area and didn’t want to lose me. He was right about the volume - I’d get upwards of 10 a day in my region, never taking any at $45-$60. All the offer notifications because annoying clutter because they never once accepted my counter-offer. I told the supervisor why I was leaving and he said that he would keep my profile “live” and send me only those jobs of $95 or more as I asked. Guess how many of those offers I’ve received since then.
I really do not know what Mortgage Connect looks for when it comes to increasing an offered fee but, I can tell you this. I have done hundreds of closings for Mtg Conn and never have had to chase payment. I, too, frequently get low-ball pay offers but, when I politely tell them my reasonable fee for that town/city, it is accepted. I highly recommend working with them! -Mary
From what I’ve been told, the fees that Mortgage Connect is willing to pay depends somewhat on geograpghical area. Since I’m in an area which is flooded with signing agents, I see all of the negatives (low offers, counters never accepted). I can’t speak objectively about that company because others on this forum have had very different experiences with them than I have. I can only compare them with other companies that I work with. For me, they are at the bottom of the barrel.
This is true. I get their offers for towns 40 miles away at $80 but I charge more than that. Someone in that town happily does them for that. But there are counties no one seems to go to that I go to and those orders pay what I ask. Went back to A for February we’ll see if it results in increased volume. I see more offers, but I don’t take the low ones. It’s the same ole same ole on this subject.
I get countless blasts from them…but all be lowballing. I did one closing for MC when I first signed up. They paid me what I countered only because they needed someone right away. I have not had a counteroffer accepted since.
