Have Never Had This Kind of Call Until Today

A signing from last week, the borrower calls today and asks when they’ll get their deposit.

Same thing had come up at the signing and I told him then read the Closing Disclosure which also has contact information for your lender and that’s who you should call.

He called me anyway. I understand it’s a big chunk of money but I never told him when he’d receive his money during signing either.

My loan officer won’t answer the phone.

What is wrong with people.

I had one who called me to cancel their loan on day 3 - insisted it was my job. Umm..nope, look at your copy of the notice and read the instructions. Meanwhile, I called title and asked them to call the signer.

I suppose the signer was confused about your role in the transaction. After personally appearing as the authority figure in many thousands of mortgage loan assignments, I’ve learned to clearly explain exactly where the signature and dates should go and only answer lender questions when asked. I’ve found out the hard way that if I explain the junk docs and miss a signature, the loan won’t close, and I’m a failure as a Loan Signer. But if I focus directly on the procedure and not on BS and chit-chat, I deliver exactly what I’m being paid for.
