How Cheap are recycled ink cartridges

I’ve been buying recycled ink cartridges from Amazon because I can get two for the price of one from Xerox.

And then had a cartridge leak ink all over the place. Took forever to clean it up but couldn’t get the imaging unit wheels clean so had more than one print with a nasty edge.
Had to order a new imaging unit and cartridges to get rid of the printing problem. Just a word of caution. I also would shake the cartridge to get an extra print job out of it. Which lead to ink leaks so that was bad.

Back to paying too much but thought I’d mention that saving money on printing can end up costing more than you saved.

I did this with the inkjet printer in my writing studio. It is half the price and was working just fine until I updated my stupid printer drivers. Then it was freaking disaster when I went to print. Lordy what a mess it made LOL

I was really surprised no service called me to ask me what was up with the print jobs so I lucked out, but it was a mess.

I have a Brother 5200 that I outfit with toner cartridges purchased from Sun Data. They work perfectly and I get three for about $65 rather than pay Staples $150 EACH!! Hope that helps some of you.

It’s cheaper until it’s not. People should work with recycled at their own risk. I won’t quit but I did need a new imaging unit and I won’t be trying to squeeze another print out of a done cartridge. My Xerox Sun Data doesn’t have anything for. I was shocked when I found it on Amazon. Now I need someone to take these cartridges off my hands. I’ll probably call Sun Data because they always sent a label for my other ones when I had six to ship.

Just a word of caution for Brother machines. I recently bought the Brother HL-L6210DW dual tray printer. I had a problem with it printing lines so I called Brother. They made me take out the drum and the printer cartridge and give them the serial numbers to verify they were genuine Brother products. I’ll be using the genuine parts ($225.00 for the cartridge) until the warranty runs out. After that, I may have to find another replacement cartridge. By the way, didn’t get close to the “up to 18,000 copies” they advertised. The operative word being “up to.”

Brother printers can be problematic

That’s the main reason why I haven’t ordered any recycled or off-brand cartridges. The money that you save is not worth the problems that they can cause.

May be true, but I’ve never had a problem in four years of using this machine. The Sun Data toner cartridges work just fine, although I cannot say the same for the drums. Had a few problems there.

I figure I’ve saved about $800 in toner costs.

I won’t switch back to Xerox direct. The cartridges jumped over twenty bucks when tariffs hit. I’m just not going to shake them around.

Ive been using refurbished cartridges for ever. but only toner. If ink leaks, your printer is toast. If toner leaks, you can shop vac up the mess. I try and use the same company that I trust. If I had to use new, then id be in the hole with jobs.

I get my toner from Ink Technologies, have been for years, never had a problem with them, they guarantee their product. I also get them within a few days.

If their toner messes up your printer, do they guarantee that too?

Not the recycled no. Use at your own risk

I have never had a problem with their toner, that is something you can address on their website. They do guarantee their products. The OEM’s are cheaper than you can find anywhere else, that is what I usually get, my printers usually won’t take the recycled, the chips are funny in those when they replace them.
