I started doing mobile loan signing and notaries for own business about a year ago and honestly there is only one site that I consistantly get asked to do business for. I don’t charge a lot and I am flexible. I have never had a bad signing, missed or even late to a signing. I have a good reputation and have credentials in finance, real estate and taxes which is a plus for document verification. I am kind of shocked that I don’t get more business. Is this site even for notaries to receive jobs? It doesn’t seem like it. Even the set up of the site seems confusing. However I see people here talking to each other. I have to be honest I rarely log on here. What do you all use this site for?

As with any business within any business sector it’s a pretty darn tough ‘row to hoe’ when it comes to locating & keeping clients.
Please know that Notary Cafe is a DIRECTORY wherein potential clients will Search for Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] to hire. There’s also the Forum containing a Treasure Trove of very helpful data for new & experienced alike . . .
It’s disappointing to not receive the results you had hoping for when you launched your business. No Signing Orders [SOs] come directly from Notary Cafe.
The best way to increase your visibility via the Notary Cafe Directory is to revisit your profile and verify it’s
percent
complete.
If you’re a Pro member:
- Add four additional zip codes
- Activate the Public Search option
- Add a brief introduction paragraph
.
A few of us sages on the Notary Cafe forum have been expressing that status (“this business is in decline”) for multiple years . . . hoping those new to this business sector would heed the clarion call. Some have heeded it - others haven’t and decry the waste of their funds launching their business.
This is why we state it’s particularly egregious that those who lack scruples & morals are engaging in misleading and deceptive/delusional marketing tactics ; i.e., falsely espousing 6-figure incomes, etc.
.
Anyone who is knowledgeable of this business sector has been cognizant for multiple years that the false 6-figure claim hasn’t been valid for a very long time.
.
I regularly express the insight that as a business owner one is to perform their own due diligence PRIOR to launching entrepreneurial pursuits within this business sector . . . in essence, to safeguard their financial assets.
When those factors are coupled with the advent of the forces exerted on moving forward with Remote Online Notarizations [RONs] & “centralizing” the SOs into warehoused organizations - there’s a further decrease in signing opportunities.
.
Certainly not being a ‘negative Nellie’ - simply categorically identifying the milestones witnessed via direct experience over the most recent decade.
Performing a Search via the TREASURE TROVE (Notary Cafe database) also reveals the vast number of those new to this business sector attesting to the lack of available SOs. ![]()
.
You’ll also find it helpful to review this Thread from 2021 that is even more cogent & valid today.

@Jcole.colecares
How to determine where your clients who are calling located your services?
I’ve been a Notary Café Professional member from the onset of providing my professional services within this Business Sector.
I value my membership here for a variety of reasons. Regularly, clients new to me say they found me on Notary Café, which as a business owner is very helpful information to gather.
.
Although, it’s important to keep in mind that most clients don’t lead their conversation with how they located you as that’s not germane to the objective of their call.
So, in order to know where your business leads are originating from, the onus is upon you to include in your questions to new clients: “Oh, how did you locate/find my services please?”
This will help you know where your marketing budget is supporting your business and where it is lackluster . . .
.
There are only a few DIRECTORIES that are worth becoming a member of and those have FREE memberships. If someone markets to you that if you pay their membership fee that you’ll receive Signing Orders [SOs] - RUN as fast as you can the other direction . . .
Their goal is for your to part with your hard-earned money and provide NOTHING in return.
.
WHO TO ADVERTISE WITH THEN?
NOTE: Never pay for a Directory Listing.
In my direct experience of successfully completing MULTIPLE certification/training programs, the Notary2Pro courses are the ONLY ones that will serve you well for preparing you to launch, operate, & develop a business within this sector.
In addition, that Fee is for the comprehensive & complete set of courses.
NOTE: I receive no compensation or remuneration of any type or kind as a result of the first-hand experiential reference above.
.
Remember the adage: You get what you pay for . . .
===>>> The others are selling you the “sizzle,” but not the steak.
.
You really do need to ensure that you have what it takes to be an entrepreneur, because it will take a LOT OF WORK to be successful in this business sector AND it will take time to become established (like in any new business you launch).
This is why I have also recommended “The Entrepreneur Equation” by Carol Roth. It would have helped me SO much if I had know about it in the beginning . . .
.
Also, you may find this thread helpful to Review as well.

There are many platforms you can register for that offer assignments. The ones that want a fee don’t pay to play. Not worth it.
@Jcole.colecares Predominantly utilize the Notary Cafe website for access to the Forum.
I utilize it also for:
- Searching the Notary Cafe database
- Researching the available Professional Signing Agents [PSAs]
- As a component of Marketing my business to potential clients
