I hear signature closers is no longer valid, business wise, not sure though, heard they are being taken over by another signing service, ?

I was taught to give a company an absolute time that I must have docs or i cannot either guarantee an on time appointment or if I’m able to take the assignment at all.
I have notified a few companies that due to their delay is sending the docs, and I understand it’s not their fault either, i am unable to accept this assignment, good luck , we’ll try next time.

New so just asking … when there is a delay in receiving the docs and making the appointment timely, can we simply phone the signers and re-schedule for a bit later?
Depends. I actually closed one at 10pm. They needed the date as the lock deadline was looming. Not a happy customer. I will generally cancel if docs aren’t delivered. Sometimes, I have delayed the appointment multiple times. The late docs are usually the title co or lender that prepares them. They put off doing their job and all of a sudden it is an emergency!

Signature Closers does pay on time and I’ve had no problems with them. I’m so sorry they failed you so badly.
I’m wondering if anyone else is getting tired of the influx of low ball offers lately. Like $70 for a signing 3.5 hours drive each way. or $65 for a local.
My rock bottom minimum is $100 just to get my anatomy out the door. For 21 plus years experience I don’t like being disrespected by these Johnny KUM Lately’s who think notaries should be greatful they exist. I’m not grateful they exist.

I totally agree! 90% of my work comes directly from Signature Closers and I can’t say that I’ve run into any MAJOR issues with them! They’ve definitely sent me late docs but they ALWAYS accomodate my fees for cancelled or modified appointments due to this issue. I LOVE Signature Closers and hate to hear that others haven’t had the same pleasurable experience that I’ve been able to cultivate!

Yep, really tired of the low ball offers too. Gas is $3.49 for 87 and over $4.00 for premium in my area. I really don’t get it.
I’d give anything for $3.49/gallon!! Gas is $4.69 in my area today!

Agree. I have a few close friends who are lenders (sometimes we in these forums seem to forget that lenders will initiate the chain-of-events for a loan signing, REAs or end-clients / borrowers). And for some reason, TiCos seem all too often to be “sitting on” the documents, when, as I’ve learned, the above mentioned ‘stakeholders’ have issued the ‘go ahead’ (ie. final ALTA, CD, etc), well in advance! Yes, we get that TiCos are ‘swamped and busy’ (but, really, who isn’t?!)…There is no excuse, really, for docs arriving late or just before the signing - needlessly stressing everyone out and heightening the chance for errors and/or mishandling… It seems that this type of behavior by TiCos is now more a norm rather than the exception. And, notice, if I may add, none ever take responsibility (instead, often, they will seek to push blame of delays, etc., on the notary…). Not all TiCos are this way. However, I’ve discovered, sadly, many are… A degradation of values and moral integrity in my books… I applaud your comments.

I’m surprised you guys aren’t appalled about the COST of printing at FEDEX
No way hosay I would just call the customer and say docs came to me late so it will push
back our time. Is the title company gonna pay me an extra $100 to print at fed ex. No. I didn’t think so. Forget it. I’m going home.

I hear ya! When you get an assignment, the last thing the signing service is expecting is that you have to print someplace other than your office/home. If they knew that in advance, no work would come your way. On a side note, I never push back an appointment without the approval of the signing service/lender that gave me the job. If after explaining the situation to them they tell you to go anyway, then they pay. Keep in mind, as “Mobile Notaries” we are expected to have the ability to print/scan on site for those incidental “snafoos.” Once you accept an assignment, the rest is on you unless the borrower or lender throws a curveball “beyond your (expected) control and ability.” Good post!
I’m not at all sure that quote is true. On site printing is a luxury and not everyone is equipped to do it. No SS I know of ‘expects’ me to have an on site printing capability. Just sayin’.

I hear ya, but maybe you never experienced those snafoos where on site printing/scanning that missing or damaged document saved the day for the lender without another road trip and delay in funding. They make mobile printers/scanners for a reason. You may call it a “luxury,” but I call it a necessary “tool” to call myself a MOBILE notary. It saved my butt plenty of times, while earning me browny points and more money at the same time. We all have different motivations and initiatives in this business apparently!

Who’s printing at FedEx?? People do you not understand this is the borrowers entire life? Their personal information? No matter what, files should be treated as they are your own! You are taking the chance that ppl can steal their identity if these docs float anywhere. I’ve never once printed anywhere except my home office, my Wi-Fi which is password protected in a huge password which changes every three months! If your taking this job seriously then you would treat the docs like they are YOURS, if docs are late, re-schedule the time with borrower explaining just that and not one Title Company would fault you for either not closing it or rescheduling time to go home and print properly. Just ask yourself one question, Would you want your social security #, your life’s history possibly in a cloud that employees or anyone could possibly get? Cmon everyone, let’s think responsibility, professionalism and integrity… Please get re-trained… I’ve taken pictures of drop boxes busted open from ppl stuffing boxes in them over the weekend, I don’t even use them for the same reason, I’ve kept over night just to avoid a drop box, if you accept a same day funding then you should make sure it can be taken the same day… it’s easy enough… Just think about it…

And I meant to add… yes a mobile printer is of the utmost needed!! You don’t need a huge expensive one, I had a temperature box built around it for heat/cold… nice to have for sellers!!!
