I only have a question
Is this a slow season for signings?
Because it’s been a good while since I received a signing
or I was too busy.
I am in East Central Iowa. I am crazy busy right now. I’m seeing a lot of Buyer’s or Seller’s, Equity and Refis. There aren’t enough notaries where I am, so I have the luxury of asking for more. They are paying it. Don’t know where you are so I can’t chime in on that. I feel that we all go through slow periods. I will tell you to enjoy the down time for your own personal paperwork, etc. I try and make sure that I am caught up before the storm hits.
Definitely depends on where you are. I’m in a notary saturated market and the last week has been quiet for me. I am also a newer signing agent, so I think all the experienced notaries are getting all the good jobs as they’re preferred.
I am shocked to learn there are still people becoming mobile notaries in my area. Because it has slowed down. If I do three a day it’s a stellar day. When I started in 2021 I could get 5 or 6 a day. But I’m relatively steady of at least one a day. If I could get to a 2 a day average I’d be very happy.
@anecembest This is the BEST response of ALL by tiffany2.
Of course, it’s all contingent upon:
- Saturation in your immediate region
- Your level of experience
- Your Schedule of Fees
- The number of ‘freshly-minted’ Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] pumped out by the nationally well-known institution & six-figure misleading marketers who continue to aggressively SELL their programs to unsuspecting/trusting individuals (always do your own Research & perform due diligence)
- Etc., etc., etc.
All that said, it’s quite complicated/challenging to accurately answer the ‘simple’ query you’ve posed, because there is SO MUCH variability across the United States.

I am also in a saturated area in Charlotte, NC. And I am a newer signing agent as well. It seems the experienced signers grab the signings quickly. But I am also part-time and I would be happy with 2-3 signings a week. I’m not there yet. I totally understand. In the meantime, I am continuing to educate myself until I gain the trust of signing services.
@hibiscusseals You’re a self-described “newer signing agent.”
Please don’t make ‘assumptions’ . . . that bite the hand (or mind) that could potentially help you.
===>>> If you were able to analyze the actual data, you’d see that it’s NOT the “experienced signers” (as you’ve labeled them) that “grab the signings quickly.”

I blame myself. I got my stamp in 2021 and did not do a thing with it. If only I knew then and had the drive, I do now. I don’t sweat it too much as I am running my business part-time. I love my full time career and I make good money, so it all balances. Just prepping for retirement in a few years and hoping I build a decent clientele by then.
EXACTLY! I had 3 in one day last Monday and felt like I won the lottery. LOL. My goal is at least 4-5 a week. So far, I feel business is picking up for a newer notary, and my expectations are pretty well managed. Long as the notifications keep coming and I get picked for a few a week, I’m good.
Im sure a lot of the new notaries are from the 6 figure guy blowing smoke up their a$$. He has been spending a lot of Facebook advertising again as he has popped back up in my newsfeed.
You are probably correct. This month has been a little rough plus I’m taking a vacation. So August is going to be interesting.
@tiffany2 Success!
Thank you! Things are going well…I spoke it into existence…I am now averaging 4-5 signings a week.
@tiffany2 Great!

August has been busy so far. Did 4 signings yesterday. That was the first time in a couple of years to see that many in one day.
I noticed some types of transactions I’ve never seen before - has anyone else seen that? For instance - you can sell part interest in your home? Wow. I imagine if you are going to sell and pay that off it’s a way to pay for improvements but I never knew there was such a thing.
I’ve been receiving a constant flow of requests, but haven’t been assigned. I finally realized my worth and am requiring higher pay than offered. Consequently, I haven’t been assigned as many. My reality is I don’t work for free.
I think it all depends on where you are. I’m in the land of cows, prairie and mountains. There’s only a handful of us doing this in my area. I did 59 signings last month and 26 so far this month. That’s a lot for how spread out we are. I frequently have 5+ signings at least 1-2 days a week. I’m at 342 signings for the year so far. My January-March this year was the busiest it’s ever been in the 4 years I’ve been doing this. I generally do about 15 each of those months. This year, I did 30-40 each of those months. I have had a lot of repeat signers this year. I did their signing in 2021-2023 when they snagged those low rates. This year, they are snagging that equity.
@aimeegravgaard percent accurate! I express that thought quite often on the Notary Cafe threads . . .
That’s great. I haven’t done that many in a month since interest was 3%.
