Hey Friends, I just checked my numbers from last September, and I’m down 15 signings last month. That’s crazy. Has anyone else seen a reduction in signings? I applied for a job 2 weeks a go, I start on 10/8 - Real Estate Paralegal. The attorney is willing to be flexible regarding my business. We will see. But yes, I’m putting this on the back burner until I see better results come across regarding the industry; I can’t afford another 2008.
I haven’t looked at last year. My accountant says I’m doing better this year. August was sort of a blip only 24 contracts when I average 40-50 a month. September bounced back. In fall and winter lots of agents take time off. I have no idea what’s going to happen. But if I survived August, I’m not freaking out yet.

By any chance did you Search the Notary Cafe database? There are multiple very recent threads on this Topic . . .

agreed! Ive noticed the slow down this week ws horrible for me! + the signings I do get are priced the same they were 10 years ago! I too am looking for a job, parttime at t least… Glad you found one.
Thank you - Me too! Gas, Food, Insurance everything is so damn HIGH!
No - I didn’t - I wanted to ask personally from what I’m expericing…
Honestly, if gas keeps going up I think all of us are going to have some shifting to do
I run my business in the evening and weekends nonetheless, I gave my AI a prompt where every Sunday, it lets me know what the market is looking like, what’s going on with interest rates, what I should anticipate for the week. For me personally it’s been pretty accurate.
GA. The U.S. economy is crashing. The mortgage industry reflects that. The number of sellers far surpasses the number of buyers. Buyers aren’t pulling the trigger. Interest rates are higher than they’ve been in a long while.
I can’t speak for others, but my volume mirrors whatever’s happening nationally. You can see the same crash happening in the auto industry and beyond. When the business isn’t there, it’s not you.
IMHO, it’s time to Buckle Up Buttercups!
A crash is a crash is a crash.
Doing a LOT of modifications.
That’s why I applied for this Real Estate Paralegal position, and I start tomorrow. I have my assistant monitoring the order flow and created a spreadsheet for me to track what is happening (orders coming through) from tomorrow onward. I have bills and I like my own money HaHaHa.
While I agree the economy looks bleak and business is slow, it’s happened before. This business is cyclical. I see a lot of loan modifications coming through Mortgage Connect. Not a good sign. The 2008 crash saw a lot of loan mods before people realized they were under water and many simply abandoned their homes rather than keep paying to no avail.
Someone above posts seeing “the number of sellers far surpasses the number of buyers.” If there’s a sale, there’s a buyer. We may just not be seeing both sides of that equation. What we may not see are the foreclosures. But once those foreclosure sales start, business will pick up.
Yes, I agree. Have a back up plan to carry you over during the slow times. Perhaps get a job with good pay and benefits. After doing so, some of us may decide the NSA business is not where our future lies.
Good luck to all! ![]()

Absolutely

It’s truly unconscionable that the guy continues to aggressively market this business is a 6-figure income. Considering the existing dearth of Signing Orders [SOs], it’s unbelievable that he continues . . . ![]()
To see the TRUTH, all one need do is Review the Income Survey Results:

Homes are sitting. Buyers aren’t pulling the trigger. Most of the Sellers I see say it took a while to get it sold.
I love your response - 2008, I reinvented myself, working as a recruiting manager at one of the largest car dealerships in MD, DARCARS, even did a commercial for them - 2011 rolled around, I was back in title… now here we are again. I’m going to reinvent myself at this law firm and learn Estate Planning, this is the new upcoming area of law that I am interested in. Hope everyone has an amazing week - I will advise how my 1st day goes tomorrow! It’s been a while..
Loan Mods? Those poor people. Can you imagine the soul-searching those signers had to go through to become that desperate?
I feel bad for some people. But not the ones driving the brand new Lexus who have 25 credit cards in their wallet. Most Americans do not live within their means. That’s the sad truth.
