Hi, I was hoping to find someone in Virginia who could share with me their fee schedule for notaries. I would like to be be consistent with other notaries in my area. Thanks in advance
Not in VA, but this is something you just have to figure out for yourself based on your cost/profit desired/etc. Someone else’s fees aren’t going to be yours. Do a search for help with figuring out all the variables you’ll encounter and DO YOUR OWN MATH.
Hi April, you are unlikely to find notaries willing share their fee schedules in here because discussing/sharing fees in a public forum we’d risk being accused of price fixing.
Like @Arichter said, we all have to determine our own rates.
I am in VA…Petersburg area. For general mobile notary service I charge $25 travel fee in my area plus $10 per stamp, I usually stay within a 15 min radius to my home office. If client comes to me, I charge only $10 per stamp. I have a He-shed office to avoid clients coming into my home. It really depends on what’s involved. I offer print and fax service if needed for extra. $2 per page when they come to me. RON starts at $25 + $10 per stamp. But like Arichter says you will have to tweak to make it make $$ sense for you.
@Foreverlovenangels Hoping you’ve had a chance to review the Guideline for Creating your List of Fees as it will provide you with information about nearly all the expenses to take into account for your calculations.
Some will state “determine your own rates” & not offer a technique for how to begin or what to consider or include . . .
Just in case you missed it (above), here is the direct url Notary Cafe link for the thread I’ve created as a guide:
Best wishes
P.S. Please keep us updated & let us know if this information was supportive. Thanks!
Thank you it makes sense appreciate your help
I trust you understand that Mr. Allen is talking about General Notary Work…NOT Loan Signings–which are a whole 'nother animal where GNW fees are not relevant.
Virginia is a large state. Northern VA and Southern VA are two different worlds. I’m in the northernmost part of the state and my minimum travel fee is $35 with a $10 notarization fee. I charge flat fees for estate planning documents and loan signings. And I never charge for duplicates.
