Hey all, I am a year in working as a signing agent, though I have only really ramped up in the last several months. I really enjoy how I can bid, pass on assignments that I can’t do, tie assignments together when they are in the same area, etc. It is super flexible. My question today for you all is do you have any other side hustle you do while being a signing agent? Have you found anything you can do going to new towns all the time to fill in the gaps when things are slow or just to supplement your income? I’ve wondered about delivering packages to another town or doing something while I am out and about. If you have any experience with other between signings, I would love to know!
@Diesel3985 Hmmm . . . there are myriad ways!
I often state that members should do the following & I also provide the reasoning for doing so:
- Always DIVERSIFY the services you intend to provide
- It’s much easier to surf the peaks and valleys of business cycles if there are multiple income streams (diversify your services across varied business sectors )

Often, Notary Cafe members are uncertain HOW to move forward with diversification of their professional services . . .
Over the years I’ve been providing these professional services, I’ve purchased many texts (more than a baker’s dozen or so).
There is ONE text I’ve purchased & subsequently gained an IMMENSE amount of wisdom, support, & guidance from reading => “Marketing Your Non-Loan Notary Services” by Laura Vestanen.
This reference text was previously available on Amazon; however, now it’s only available via abebooks .com
Also, it identifies there is only ONE in stock. ![]()
The price is QUITE reasonable at a mere $10, but it’s worth it’s weight in GOLD.
This text will be instrumental in guiding you to effectively & efficiently toward expanding your business while simultaneously utilizing your well-honed notarial skills!
I truly found it to be very helpful , insightful, and candidly assisted me in brainstorming my way to greater success.
FYI: I receive no compensation or remuneration of any type or kind as a result of my first-hand experiential review above nor from any sales of the text.
I’ve previously referenced this instrumental text many times previously on the Notary Cafe forum as well:

thank you! I will check that book out
I did delivery for a while, but I have to tell you it’s impossibly hard on your vehicle and you think it’s good money - but at the end of the day you realize it’s not. My car got dinged at least 4 times in store parking lots. Once I got back into by a guy with no insurance.
I signed up with a couple of inspection companies but the fees are terrible. I go do jobs when they are desperate for someone and willing to pay a decent fee.
I’m happy to say I am so busy with signings I can’t do anything else. But I do travel a lot.
