How do you handle a signing when the company doesnt send docs until 40 minutes prior to appt and it’s 45 min drive
I call the signer and tell them when I can arrive get them to say it’s okay then I call the service that hired me and say can’t arrive until x time because of docs delay but the signers are okay with me getting there at x time.
Agree with johnsonps306. Sometimes it helps to be proactive. Upon receipt of order, tell them “Must have docs no later than (date & time that works for you)”. If you let them know right away, they usually comply.
It depends on what my schedule is, whether I just ride it out and wait for the docs, or I cancel because it conflicts with my other signings for the day. If I’m sticking with the signing but I know I’ll be late, I’ll contact the signer and let them know what’s going on and that I’ll get back to them with an ETA when I receive the documents. Sometimes the signing ends up getting cancelled.or rescheduled for another day.
I let them know in advance what my drive will be and if I do not receive the documents in time, the appointment will have to be rescheduled. They can take it or leave it.
Depends on my schedule for the day. I just canceled on one this morning that I saw coming. I was assigned Friday evening for a 10am today. No docs came through. I put a note on the order stating that I had to leave by 8:55am to be on time. Well, 9am and no docs. I called the signer explaining that I had no documents, I had other appoints today and I was canceling. I wasn’t playing games today and making my other appointments late. That would not be fair to the companies in line that did have my docs ready on time.
That said, If I had no other appointments for the day, I would have called the signer and asked what their availability for the next few hours looked like. If it was alright for me to go a bit later, thats fine.
Now you stated that you did get your documents just at the time you should have been leaving. I never wait to let anyone know that their late documents will cause me to be late. I begin at two hours before the signing and state that if they aren’t soon delivered I can not guarantee that I will make it on time and state how long my drive time is. Usually in my area 40minutes to an hour.
Hope that rambling helped out a little. Again, depends on what the rest of my day looks like.
