Hello fellow signing agents… I get a lot of spam calls that I usually ignore or block. Do the signing services sometimes call you for signings or is it a text on through their platform or agency. I would hate to block someone who’s trying to give me work…
@wyattk345 It depends . . .
Different clients have various contact (as well as multiple types) methods of contact for scheduling Signing Orders [SOs].
Optimally, the technique (see below) will serve you BEST:
===>>> Here’s one additional technique that you may find to be QUITE EFFECTIVE . . . Code the Contact List in your phone . . .
- Why take the time to do that?
Because you will IMMEDIATELY KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt when a call comes in . . . who to accept & who to reject.
One technique for Coding your Contact List would be to place a leading 2-character prefix that identifies the Group that phone number has placed themselves within from demonstrated behavior:
- NP = Non-Payer
- SP = Slow Payer
- LB = Low Ball Fees
- LD = Late Docs
- NN = Non-negotiator
Etc., etc., etc.
There are several other techniques (Search Google) for Coding your Contact List to assist you in filtering your Inbound calls.
They sometimes call. I still get phone calls once in a while even though I stopped being a mobile notary a few years ago.
When I moved back to WA I kept my TN number so spam can easily be identified. Schedulers call direct some times from Ca or TX so I usually answer those. When I see a local area code I usually answer.
I go to voice mail a lot when I confirm because I look like spam calling from White House TN. But I don’t get blocked very often.
I answer every phone call. Sometimes it is a signing service or some other opportunity. If you get a spam caller just say or sing something creepy. They’ll get scared and never call again. Works for me. I always start singing the song from that movie “The Night of the Hunter” with Robert Mitchum and Shelley Winters
never fails
Hiring companies quite often call. I always take the call, and if it turns out to be spam or robocall, then I mark it as spam and block.
I answer my phone every time, “How may I help you today”? No longer do I identify myself first, or even say Hello or Hi, but if I don’t get a response in 1-2 seconds, I’m gonna hang up & block the number! They may call from a different # but at least I answered, and attempted to do business.
I was told once when I called a borrower to confirm a signing appointment that she almost didn’t answer my call, as my call came across on her end as spam. I get quite a few calls for jobs, so I always answer
