So I am a Texas notary that is a RON and I was completing some title docs for a signer that was in Florida and for their Deeds that are required to have 2 witness. The signers didn’t bring any so I offered to bring another notary on and I asked if they could provided the other but they expected me to be the other witness. I let them know that as a Texas notary I can’t be both a witness and notarize their documents. In the end the signing didn’t happen. Was I wrong? Question for Texas notaries

Always follow the Notary Laws in the State you’re licensed. You did things correctly. It’s the responsibility of the hiring agent to inform everyone about the need for witnesses.

Thank you for your reply I have checked with the NNA and they informed me that I can be a witness as long as my signature is not needing notarization.
