Do you send in your new credentials as soon as you receive them?
My commission doesn’t expire until 4/28 but I am already getting requests from companies to provide the updated credentials.
I was curious what others did. I was going to just send in the new stuff when I get it and as it’s requested. I hate to last minute anything. But it made me wonder if there’s a too early early.
In renewing things I am setting up the date for the date of expiration, so I don’t think I’m losing any months that way. I know NNA wants you to think you have to renew right now but I waited for the state notice. The new bond and E & O don’t start until the day after expiration.
I’m in WA State and they have forwarded renewal notice that is easy to click and renew with payment for renewal. Local vendor Attorney Notary & Supply processes Western Surety bond, E&O insurance, and stamp renewals. Whole renewal process approx. 2 weeks.
I began receiving credential renewal requests about 60 days before their expiration dates. Errors and omissions carriers typically allow renewal payment within 30 days of expiration. For bonds and notary commissions, I aimed to complete renewals within 30 days. Keeping ahead of these deadlines is crucial to avoid service interruptions due to non-compliance.
They send me the same renewal link. I have to input the new bond policy to renew. I never found a link to new bond but I already got it. I may be early but it’s out if the way and I can clear up all the listings I have time to find them all.
Maybe I Was supposed to use the same policy number. Oh well. It will be there tomorrow. Renewing doesn’t change the start date of a new commission. I am not a good just in timer. I am more of a get it out of the way.
@cfletcherYou’re percent accurate with your sagacious insight.Thank You
In my direct experience over the years, multiple Title/Escrow Companies [T/ECs] as well as Signing Services [SSs] have disseminated a “heads-up” email message warning the Professional Profile status will be altered to INACTIVE at 30 days prior to the credential expiration date - if the renewing credentials aren’t submitted prior to that date.
As such, my business policy is to ensure that 6 weeks prior to the expiration date I’ve completed the renewal of all germane & pertinent credentials (regardless of any interval of “lost time” each year).
It’s a valid point that there is a loss of about 1+/- month each year, which results in an interval of an approximately 11 month term. The cost of that “loss” pales in comparison to the loss of potential Signing Orders [SOs] within that interval of time.
This technique has worked well for me over the years up to & including to-date.
Just did 2 signings on 2/28 and my E&O expires 3/8. Have at least 2 ‘reminders’ from hiring co. But do agree that some will cut you off early.
Just an FYI I just learned: Most E&O policies are on a ‘declining balance’ basis. (If you had a claim, the insurance is decreased by amount of claim from date of claim to expiration date.) However, if you purchase E & O annually, and have a claim, the reduction only lasts until expiration of annual policy. Next policy would NOT have any reduction. Hope that made sense.
Note also that not all policies are like this, but the E & O thru NNA is.
2028? Something is on auto-pilot! You will get requests 60 days out. My E&O starts on the same day every year even though I renew it months in advance. My problem was when I nearly missed out on renewing my commission before the other one ran out. I took the test within 2 months of the old commission expiring and got my new one just before the old one ran out. I don’t plan to do that again, but if I was unsuccessful, I had a plan to make use of the time between commissions as a backup, like sleep in one weekend?
Hello,
You can send it whenever you want as long as they get it before the one they have expires. I always send my updated credentials as soon as I receive them because it takes time to do that, time that I don’t have so I get it out of the way when I find the time to do it.
