Scanning mixed size docs

Does anyone know of a scanner that will scan the mixed packages we receive? Any suggestion would be appreciated since it seems almost every package is requesting scan back now a day.

Thanks.

I have a Brother, kinda old, but it does scan mixed documents. You have to set it up for legal scanning. The model is MFC-L2740DW. I don’t know if they make that model anymore however I’m sure they have something compatible.

My at-home scanner is a Brother MFC-L5800DW. It will scan both letter and legal – one size at a time. When I have a package with mixed sizes, I set it for legal and it’ll scan the whole package as legal size. It’s an older model but still works great!

Now my portable scanner is a Fujitsu ScanSnap ix1500. That will scan all sizes at the same time to its true size. Yes, it’ll scan a driver’s license also. The manual says the auto feeder takes up to 50 pages at a time. I’ve run 70 pages without issue. Not that we need this feature for the NSA biz, but it’ll also scan both sides at the same time of dual-sided document.

I use the Epson Workforce ES-580W Scanner, and it scans mixed size docs quickly to your cell phone, computer, flash drive, files, cloud. It’s very compact, and I scan directly from the table and signers are fascinated. At a previous signing, a mother told her son she wanted one for Christmas.

I use the Epson Workforce ES-580W and love it for large scanbacks. I take it to the signings when immediate scanbacks are required. It’s fast and handles mixed sized pages well.

My Xerox scans mixed documents.

Set your scanner for Legal. The receiver isn’t going to print them anyway.

Sometimes I will scan them mixed and sometimes I will scan them separately by size. It depends on the package and how much time I have at that moment. If I leave it on legal size, that usually works out fine as they don’t care if the letter size is scanned as legal size. It’s a pain in the butt to keep switching back and forth. Unlike printing, there is no extra cost to you for scanning in all legal size.

I have an Epson and it’s magical. I wouldn’t change it for the world. So easy to use and fast. Although a little expensive.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I really do appreciate the help.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

I scan every document no matter the size on legal. I never had an issue. Some companies just want confirmation that the actual documents were printed on the correct paper size.

I use the Epson WorkForce ES-580W. No setting changes are needed—it scans both legal and letter-size documents automatically, and the process takes under a minute. Also, I keep this in my car 24/7.

I use the Epson ES 580W. It’s portable if need be and the app lets you choose paper size. However, when I am scanning and it’s mixed size paper, I set the app to 8.5 x 14. You can only scan 100 pages but that’s no big deal I just make two files and send them over

It’s a tough little machine and has ridden in my car for 3 years and sometimes I transfer it to the house for a late Friday night scan. Had to slam on my brakes so hard once the scanner flew off the back seat. Still works fantastic.

I’ve been using the Epson Workforce 500 since 2020 and it scans bioth. Sounds like the upgrade is the 580. But just to give you an idea of how long it lasts.

Honestly, any duplex scanner with a good ADF should do the trick - Fujitsu ScanSnap works great with mixed stacks. It’s not cheap, but if you’re scanning a lot, it saves so much time and hassle.

If it’s a mixed package, I’ll often scan all in legal size. It’s a lot quicker to do that than to switch back and forth.
