This was a first for me ¢¢¢

I’ve been in this business since 2005, and had a good laugh today, and had to read this a few times to see if it was legit.

It came in as a "Premium Refi " from Velocity Commercial Capital, LLC off Snap Docs paying vendor pay. (Drum roll…) $91.37! Where in this whole business are they down to the cents now?? I’ve never seen that, I’ve never been offered anything than a nice even number to the $5.00 increments…what in the world have we come to?

I thanked them to a good laugh, explained I wasn’t interested in working with a company who rounds to the cents and blocked them. It wouldn’t have mattered the dollars as much as the gall of putting the .37¢ in there.

Anyone ever see this down to the penny before?

Saw one like that myself today, but it didn’t have a signing service attached to it. It just said SnapDocs Premium, same rate though.

In the past, I heard SnapDocs was charging their clients $15 per order and many of those clients were passing that cost on to the notary by deducting that $15 from the offered fee. So, if they normally offered $100 for an assignment, they were then offering $85 to make up for that charge from SnapDocs.

Given the two experiences above, I wonder if SnapDocs has changed their fee structure (takenotenotaryservices mentions SnapDocs “Premium”) - maybe the premium gets a little lower charge which includes cents?

Anybody’s guess…nobody else’s come thru with that weird amount, and if the premium was on SD side, wouldn’t it be more than the $15.00 they charge title per order and use of website? The “premium” closing sounded like it was a way of saying " white glove service" to me and something that company wanted to entice a notary. Who knows…it just struck me off that we are literally being nickel and dimed to death. I guess could have countered with $125.42 haha. Only good part was vendor pay, but I’m tired of the riff raff and games, just be professional and offer a professional fee.

Took one for $101 from SnapDocs. Had one from Solidifi that had cents included.

At some point I wonder if title companies will go back to having full time schedulers so they can work direct with notaries instead of paying fees to platforms.

I doubt it, makes lots less work for them in their day when a computer will spit out a fee that notaries accept in that area or zip code, and they get notified when accepted. They start at the lowest until someone bites, now it seems down to the penny. On the CD, borrower still gets charged the highest rate possible and the difference is profit for them. I’m about ready to hang up SD as doing this as supplemental income now, and am picky and give my best to the best I have worked with over the years. I was surprised, but I guess not really if all AI generated fees.

I counter everything and work for the fees I request. April was very busy and May booking has started.

Got this request just now. This is crazy.

We really are being nickel and dimed! Ridiculous, shame on them for allowing this to happen. I think they honestly don’t know what the AI program is doing, but also tells me they are out of touch with their day to day affairs . I cannot with a straight face ask them about the ¢ …:winking_face_with_tongue:

Thinking they don’t know the penny has been discontinued!!!
