I provided a service for American Notary Pro back in April, and I am still waiting for a payment. I have emailed Suzy multiple times with no reply. I finally mailed them a certified letter of past due invoice. I received a noticed that it was signed for. I emailed Suzy again and informing her of the certified letter being signed & confirming they have received my letter. Now, she replies by saying that I will need to send them a W9 form for tax purposes before payment can be issued. I have informed her that I have done services with many other platforms, and businesses and that’s first time a company has asked for that. In any case I have the W9 form filled out and I emailed her asking to provide me their accounts payable department and phone number where I can send the form. I can’t believe the hoops I have to go through just for a payment that is due to me for services. So, with that all I have to say I will NEVER take an assignment from American Notary Pro. Today is 7/23 & still waiting for a reply from American Notary Pro
Please understand that ANP isn’t my favorite SS. However, also keep in mind the IRS is taking a closer look at businesses that use Non-
Employee Contractors. One thing the IRS is examining is the W9. As such many service providers who use NECs, are now asking for W-9s before processing payments.
It takes all of 2 minutes to fill one out. You can fill one out omitting the service provider’s information. This way all you have to do is fill in one blank and send it to them.
The W-9 is a large low hanging loop that takes little effort to jump through.
If you have any questions regarding the W-9 feel free to seek advice from you preferred Tax Professional or send me a private message.
Best Wishes
