Blank acknowledgements

Have had several signings for ServiceLink lately. I have no complaints about them and they do pay well. Just a comment - they always seem to include a couple of blank all purpose acknowledgements not assigned to any document. I don’t know about other notaries, but I refuse to sign blank acknowledgements. I have always returned them unsigned with the package and have not gotten any complaints from Service Link. Anybody have a comment about that?

I don’t assume whoever included the blank acknowledgements intended the notary to fill them out and let the title company use them however they wanted. I give whoever included them the benefit, and suppose they are in case the acknowledgement printed at the end of the document gets spoiled, or the names of the signers won’t fit, or something like that.

None of the loose blank acknowledgements ever met the requirements for my state, so I never used them. If necessary, I used my own.

I don’t have experience with ServiceLink but I have had escrow officers include blank acknowledgments in a loan package. I assume it’s just extra in case I need some but I always carry my own.

What do they pay? What do you consider good pay?

I’ve used SL for about 6 months. Their fees are what I’d describe as middle of the road. Not Low Ball, not top tier. They pay on time and never had a bad check. They do send out notary/industry/ legal updates as well as a score card on your performance. Overall I’d recommend you give them a try.

I return the blank Acknowledgements and Jurats back unpopulated. I have one SS that uses a settlement agent who insist on my populating the blank Jurats they include. When I refused and gave me a hard time, I decided to stop taking their offering.

I’ve done plenty of work with them, $90 LOVE THEM.

I have found that some companies include two (2) blank acknowledgements in their closing packages. I have seen them many times. I explain to the signer(s) they are there just incase they are needed and do nothing with them. I believe it is for convenience sake - should you need it.
