I’ve been a Notary for several years, but I’m new to being a Signing Agent. I’ve signed up with multiple platforms, and even when I accept assignments, there seems to be no guarantee that I’ll actually receive the signing.
I’m trying to figure out the best way to get consistent work and build momentum. Are there specific platforms, companies, or strategies you’d recommend for newer Signing Agents? Any advice on where to focus—or what worked for you starting out—would be greatly appreciated.
About all a platform scheduler sees when ‘choosing’ who is notified is every area notary’s name & picture. Maybe a blurb or 2. As responses come in, the 1st criteria is: did you accept the unprofitably low fee offered? If so, they MAY give you a shot, while laughing cuz you just agreed to no-profit work–and you’ve just put yourself in the bargain bin & will forever more stay there. More likely is that they will accept the higher, reasonable counter by a name/face they vaguely recognize. Keep countering with a profitable fee and eventually you’ll be a familiar name/face. There is no strategy involved. It’s all hit or miss, sorry to say.
Gain an understanding of you’re reaching in your ZIP Codes, so that you don’t have to fumble around and look at where assigning offer is located before you can accept a fee or counter offer a good fee.
If you have a good understanding of the area you provide service for so that you know immediately what your fee is gonna be that’s the best way to get assignments when you don’t have to do any research you just know what you charge for that area.
When you receive orders, be sure you are returning error-free work. Make sure you’re asking questions in advance. When you see something in the paperwork you don’t know what’s required.
@denise7 You’ll land a signing gig eventually. In the process, use Google to find title companies and signing services, and apply! Learn your market, see how much competition works in your area. Consider servicing surrounding counties within a specific radius of your residence. When I started out, my goal was to sign up with 100 companies that use signing agents. Nah, I never actually made it to that goal, signing business just got hectic! Oh, I forgot to add, read a lot of books written by other signing agents. For example, “50K To Sign Your Name” and “Sign & Thrive”. Good luck on your journey and feel free to reach out to collaborate if you wish to do so….
