First Class Notary Service

In the last week, I accepted a signing was paid $125, another day the title company found out the grant deed has mistake need to resign, then they add $50 for resigning it, so total was $175, but after the closing, they revised my fee to $150, and we have discussed about my fee, they denied it, and said “the original fee was $100 and the 2nd signing fee pay $50, so total is $150, not $175, if you have screenshot to prove it we can get back to you”, who will take each screenshot of the assignments, that is not the first time they received my fees, for all Notaries pls beware this low class company. It’s despicable that they use bait and switch tactics to extort other people’s labor.

Sorry for your experience.

I was onboard with them when they first started out. Back then, they used to call and offer the nice fee of $125 and would only use SnapDocs (SD) to load docs. Eric, the owner, then started expanding his business and acquiring other signing services. By that time, First Class Notary was using SD for the entire process and fees dropped.

I no longer work with First Class. We cannot agree on fees. Eric and I have spoken and I wish him and his growing companies the best.

I had read on here where another notary had their fee reduced in a similar situation. I have decided not to work with them, because of the reviews I have read on this site.

Haven’t experienced that myself. Hope I don’t. I have seen folks post here that they screenshot everything, but I don’t do that.

I always print my confirmation and hold on to it until payment clears.

Guess I’m not fully trustful of automation. “Trust, but verify.”

@alisonlizhenlin3951 Unfortunately, learning the ‘hard way’ truly drives the lesson home & impacts our long-term memory of the event/experience.

Many years ago I learned (vicariously) to always print the Signing Order [SO] confirmation & retain it until the remuneration has been successfully transferred; i.e., check has cleared, etc.

I have worked with Eric at First Class for over 10 years, and yes they used to pay more and directy but then chose Snap Doc. Orders I get from them that have large print packages or distant locations I always send them a note telling them what I expect to be paid for that signing and 9 out of 10 times I get what I ask for.

I always make a copy of the confirmation, if there is an error in the fee I ask them to revise it before the signing. I have it as a backup in case of future fee disputes.

Is Eric still at First Class? I think they sold it to a Texas company. First Class merged with ASAP signings a few years back and you can tell that the offers come from two different teams. The original First Class assignments typically pay $100 and do not require a scan, the ASAP (not to be confused with the other ASAP company) typically pay $90 and require a scan. I ask extra if there are more than 200 pages or a large amount of legal pages. Legal paper is 4 times more expensive than letter. I will also ask for a trip fee if the location is remote.

It doesn’t have confirmation, the First Class use Snapdocs platform, if need to keep the confirmation just take the screenshot to prove the fees.
