For most notaries, this is the hardest part to overcome.
Just remember to control the conversation to see what the client needs and guide them to what you offer and create a solution. They will try to say***** price price price, but quickly tell them you can only give a general range based on the documents you can see. Ask to email or snapshot a preview of the document.
I hope this helps…

Last year when I was seeing changes in the Mortgage Market I launched a second business. Hence the name change from ExeterNotary to Riverpointe Tax. I’m finding many of my Tax clients are engaging or referring me when it comes to notary work. I’ve moved my notary business into the category of a value added service rather than as the core business.

I understand the nervous mindset on GNW… that too shall pass. Just rip the bandage off and dive in. Take your time… know your state laws on what you can or cannot do. Save their contact info in your phone and call if you have questions.
What advertising are you doing to get the clients?
Yes,
I highly suggest more than one expertise other than a notary. Most businesses do.
Are you pursuing this as a business or side hustle?
Either way, you need to advertise yourself and yes that means paying.
I am glad you shared this because some may think that i am stretching the truth when i share the exact same thing. I had two GNW appointments in one day and made $250… with no tips cause they Zelled me the money immediately after each appointment

Exactly,
This is a service-oriented industry and in most cases, you are handling very sensitive documents. People appreciate the communication and solving their problems or tasks.
There are so many things to notarize so I am confused now about why people only seem to care about LSA.
But let’s keep GNW a secret to those who really know.
A client questioned me about getting his marriage notarized (in specific questioning the required ceremony portion of Florida law) …I quoted him my price …he said he’d rather go ups to or bank to get a stamp…for his marriage
Ok… I hang up… 10 minutes later he requested service…
Be firm and follow the laws of the State!!

That’s funny - and they probably won’t do it either - they have to perform the ceremony in order to complete the marriage cert.
Most people around me don’t want to pay either - they think the $10 per is outrageous…lol
Seriously? Talk about no respect for Notaries…
I avoid this type of clientele with a plague. I actually direct them to ups or the banks. ---------------- Ups there’s a line and they can’t do more complicated notarizations and the banks good luck( you need to catch them on a good day) and some aren’t following the state laws, like stamping documents without notarial statements on them/ or providing loose leafs…smh

Well, of course one must advertise. My question is : what venue are you using?
Then give up your commission if your the duties you applied for are a waste of your time!
Your request is pending review.
Why Jason, are you actually considering giving up your commission? Could it be that your beloved $150 <5 mile refi’s have dried up? Or is it that you just can’t imagine taking on GNW? Inquiring minds want to know

Well I was trying to be sarcastic but I guess I messed that up too….
The only thing GNW is useful in is cross over business potential.

You’re so dismissive of those of us who prosper doing GNW. I’m not trying to convince you that GNW is fun, profitable, easier than doing loans (although all that is true in my view) but you seem so convinced within yourself that GNW is useless. Frankly, as I’ve said before, I’m glad you feel that way. You’re one less competitor out there.
Incidentally, cross-over business potential to what? What kind of “business potential” are you referring to? Please answer the question. Don’t do like you often do and ask another question or provide an inane answer.

I don’t know why you trying to convince him that it’s worth it… someone told me that longevity and success comes to those that do the things that others won’t… so I’m okay with him not doing GNW because another Notary in his area will

I just said that it is worth doing as long as it’s done in the right way.
