New Texas RON / Signing Agent Seeking Guidance & Experience

New Texas RON / Signing Agent Seeking Guidance & Experience

Hello everyone,

I’m a fairly new signing agent and Remote Online Notary based in Aubrey, Texas, and I’m hoping to get some advice from those of you who have been doing this longer.

Here is my NNA Signing Agent profile:

And my Snapdocs profile:

A little about my background and credentials:

  • Texas Notary Public

  • Texas Remote Online Notary (RON) commissioned

  • NNA Certified Signing Agent

  • $1,000,000 E&O insurance

  • Snapdocs verified

  • RON platforms: Proof and BlueNotary

  • Also registered with: NotaryGo, Mavsign, and NotaryGadget

So far, most of the signing requests I’ve received have been 100+ miles away, which surprised me a bit. I’m curious if that’s typical for those of you starting out, or if most notaries are accepting those distances when building experience.

For those who have been successful in this field:

What else should I be doing to start gaining traction and experience?

I’m very motivated to learn and improve. If anyone would be open to allowing me to observe a RON signing or possibly shadow a loan signing appointment, I would be extremely grateful. Even seeing the process live would be incredibly helpful as I continue building experience.

I’m serious about building this business long-term and appreciate any guidance from the community.

Thank you in advance.

Price yourself so you have profit. They prey on newbs who grab low offers ‘for the experience’. Always counter with a fee that is profitable. Drive time & mileage are HUGE COST factors and they’ll most likely go with a closer/cheaper notary anyway Most 1st offers seem to be close to actual ‘cost to notary’. When you’re starting out it’s usually best to stay close to home & learn from your mistakes.
