I completed a signing a few days ago. The wife asked me “why wasn’t the other notary who called Saturday able to come”? Hmmm. So, I told her that happens sometimes. However, the wife continued to say “well, she called and said she’d be here at 10; then at 10:30 she called to say it would be 1:00; then she called and asked if she COULD JUST DROP THE PACKAGE OFF TO BE SIGNED and she’d return later”.
Do I just leave this alone? This Notary needs to be reported.
Agree with Arichter; for all you know the conversation was “I’ll drop your copy of the package off for you to look over and come back later to finish the signing”…
You know the old party game about how much a sentence gets changed as it passes from person to person? Excellent lesson. If you didn’t hear it with your own ears, do not pass it on.
I’m going to have to with the group @Arichter@LindaH-FL@judikidd. We are colleagues, not here to police one another. Some of us do a better job than others, to some this is a field/industry in which they respect in take pride in. To others, this in merely a means to earn some extra income or to make ends meet.
We all are Bonded and have E&O, if something happens to that person (NSA) then let it happen; however I would suggest NOT being the reason why something happen to a colleague simply because they are less professional in the manner in which they do business.
Rule#1 Never just give the customer the docs to have them sign on there own…A pro always monitors and controls the docs and the meeting, not the other way around. Even if the docs were overnighted to the customer, you take all the docs and walk them through the process.
This person that left the docs should pick another career.
Janice, maybe that’s why you were assigned this signing. For whatever reason, the other notary couldn’t complete the job and the hiring party must have cancelled her assignment. Actually, it sounds as if the other notary had over-booked herself and wasn’t able to handle her schedule well.

Absolutely agree with that. Sounds like neglect of the client or non-professional performance, but maybe we do not know some details. Whatever I think that you should stay your line in this case. Btw it is strange to hear situations like this, because My Hanover PA Notary always makes all possible for my convenience. Wish you the same.
