I recently did a mortgage loan signing here in Florida and learned that as of July 31, 2024, the State has changed it’s driver’s license numbering system. The 3rd set of numbers used to be the last two digits of the person’s birth year. The FL DMV changed that, and they use a random number instead. This is the first signing I’ve done with a license issued after the above date and I was very concerned that the signer had presented a fake ID. Thought I’d pass that along to other FL notaries who may encounter this.
That applies for original, renewal, or replacement Florida DL/ID cards issued after July 31, 2024. and Notaries will still encounter valid Florida IDs with the old numbering system for a while. Here are a couple links that might help Florida notaries:
