Printer, dual tray

Old question, new times. Does anyone make a dual tray, with scanner anymore. My printer us an old Brother MFC that did everything and I was able to a second tray. They no longer make it. From what I can see, I can get a dual tray but have to buy a separate scanner. Help, thanks

Yes…they still sell MFCs… check Amazon

Not what I asked but thanks.

MFC = Multi Function…prints, scans, copies all in one machine.

If that’s not what you asked, please enlighten me because you said “,Does anyone make a dual tray, with scanner anymore. You’re welcome.

I lease a Brother printer, scanner, dual tray etc. It’s huge. Anyway, I did the math and for what I’m paying monthly (less than $200 and it includes unlimited toner) I’m saving money. At the end of the 3year lease I have the option to buy it for $1 which I will do. It’s a huge four tray on wheels-like you see in most offices. I can email docs to it and they will be printed when I arrive back to my office. Scan a 150 page package in 1-2 mins- if that.

I have a Xerox that scans and prints. I use the by pass tray for my legal paper.

If I misunderstood what you are asking - sorry. I could actually buy a 2nd tray for my printer but I have no problem using bypass. When I scan from the feeder it scans automatically legal or letter without using a tray. If I missed what you meant, sorry.

As Linda stated, Brother still makes MFCs. The thing is … to make it a dual tray, you first have to determine if that particular model can handle the 2nd (or more) tray*. If so, then you have to purchase that 2nd tray and install it. The installation process is usually very simple.

Or,

You can try to find an MFC (usually pre-owned) that’s already put together for you – like through eBay or Amazon or some other resale outlet.

I have 2 Brother printers. Both are dual tray. One is an MFC. I purchased the 2nd tray separately on each.

*Note: Not all Brother models are adaptable to multiple trays.

Yes, it is absolutely worthwhile to invest some time and effort in finding the most suitable printer solution for your specific needs. I recently acquired an HP Laser Pro model, and while it served as a decent printer, I encountered a limitation with its tray configuration. One tray was specifically designed for inserting individual sheets of paper, whereas the other was exclusively for letter or legal-sized paper formats. Consequently, to achieve the functionality of being able to print documents using both letter and legal-sized paper without manual intervention, I had to make an additional purchase of an extra tray to expand its capabilities.

What model is it? Thanks

Canon has a great printer scanner with dual tray capability - also prints/scan fast!

Canon MF465dw II

I’ve had the same question. The old MFC did everything with lighting speed. I miss it! I have found that I can replace the drum and I’m seriously considering that except it has so many “miles” on it, I’m not sure it’s worth it. I bought the HL series about 6 months ago and like you said, it had no scanner. I bought a SMALL laptop (Dell) and a Canon scanner and that’s all they are used for. I keep the hard drive on the small laptop cleaned weekly. Thankfully there are only a few companies that require the scan backs now. I still miss the MFC…it was a great piece of equipment! The HL is already acting like it’s on its last leg. Maybe checking Amazon could be useful I just don’t see the deliveries around here going very smoothly. (BTW the dual tray on the HL is a pain!)

Check on Ebay for the part.

Epson WF-7840. Dual Tray. $229. It works perfectly and prints by paper size. No more having to fool around with legal vs letter. I had an HP7740. Loved it but it never worked for CHOOSE PAPER SOURCE BY PDF never worked. I spent hours on the phone with HP and they could never get it print by letter/legal tray size. I bought the Epson WR-7840 for the hell of it and IT WORKS!!

Of note, the Epson WR-7840 is an INKJET printer. The printer utilizes ink (not toner). As such, the Epson WR-7840 would NOT be a valid choice.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Printing for the professional services that are provided within this business sector are to be printed on LASER printers utilizing toner.

Thanks for the info. What printer do you use?

@steven1 Multiple Brother printers over the years. They’re truly workhorses for reasonable costs.

Currently, Brother MFC-L6800 DW (dual tray) => discontinued

NOTE: I’m looking for a new one as it’s discontinued.

Currently considering migrating from a Multi-Function Center [MFC] to solely a dual tray laser printer (potentially the HL5200 + dual tray), because the scanner is still functioning very well.

Hi, I’ve been doing this for 20 yrs, and I found that the dual tray/scanner combo doesn’t work nearly as well or fast as my dual tray printer and separate Fijitsu ScanSnap. (it’s sold under another name now). The scanner can scan 200+ pgs in a matter of a couple minutes. I also have the added benefit of changing it to jpg and scan old photos that I don’t have digital copies of. It is my favorite piece of office quipment!

Fitjitsu Scan Snap are terrific. The best!
