RON "circular" digital stamp/certificate?

Greetings, All -

I have a quick question. I recently received a request to sign a document via DocuSign, and they specifically requested my digital stamp to be circular. While I know circular stamps are typically used for in-person purposes, I’m unsure how to create or obtain a circular digital stamp since mine is currently in the standard rectangular format. Help?

Karina

In Florida, DoucSign, Inc has been an approved RON service provider, therefore they can stipulate the configuration of digital stamp to be circular format. Our digital stamp must be configured to the requirements of the RON provider’s platform. May I ask for clarification purposes, when you state “in-person” are you referring to IPEN (in person electronic notarization)? There are five types on methods of notarization. Greetings @cfletcher -

Thank you for your response. I hope this email finds you well.

As a RON, my service provider is OneNotary. When I obtained my digital seal, the only option available (to me) was the rectangular stamp. The assignment I received requested signing via DocuSign. Although they aren’t my “main” service provider, I know I can use my digital seal across multiple platforms. The question I had is, how do I obtain a circular seal? Do I need to purchase another digital seal or can mine be converted? As I was typing this, I answered my own question. Refer back to the vendor that issued my digital seal. If I am wrong, please correct me.

Regarding the “in person,” I was referring to the physical stamp/seal, not iPen.

Looking forward to your response.

@enotary.305 ,You’re on the right track! Since they can make a rectangular stamp, they probably can do circular too. If they charge extra, that’s on them. In Florida, I’ve seen notarial seals in both shapes. Here’s what I found: “In Florida, the shape of the digital notary seal must comply with state law. The Florida Notary Handbook specifies that electronic notarizations require an official seal of office, which must include the notary’s legal name and be used in conjunction with an electronic signature that meets Florida Statute requirements. While the specific shape of the digital notary seal is not detailed in the results, it is important to ensure that the seal is used correctly in electronic notarization applications.” Hope this helps, but check your state’s laws if you’re not in Florida.

Hello, @cfletcher -

Thank you so very much for all this info. Once I get a concrete answer from the vendor, I will definitely be paying it forward.

Oh, and if you happen to observe/celebrate, Happy :jack_o_lantern: Halloween! If not, have a great Friday!

Hi @cfletcher -n

I spoke with a representative at NNA, and they confirmed that they only provide the rectangular electronic seal. However, you can purchase a circular seal from another vendor. Be sure to check with them if a new voucher is required for the circular seal.

Hope this helps.

When it comes to any stamp, your digital as well as your physical must match. My digital stamp looks exactly like my physical one, that is how you should order it.
