I carry the Uniball Fine Tip Blue roller ball pens. I love how they write. They dry fast never smear and are great.
Signers seem to really love these pens as well, I get asked all the time Can I have this pen. I’m pretty good natured and carry a lot of them and usually say yes.
Yesterday, signed property sale documents who got $1.4 Million for their ranch in the mountains.
Sure enough, he wanted my pen. Because obviously he couldn’t buy his own. Sometimes you gotta laugh.
I too carry extra pens with me to give away. I have my company logo and info on mine. So bonus for possible future work. Be surprised over the years how much work you get from doing this.
O here’s a good one. The customer said can I have your pen, why sure I said. He said it will remind me of you. Well ok. I said well don’t lose it, he said not a chance that would be losing you. . I’m thinking is this guy flirting. I laughed and moved on.
I have been handing out patriotic themed personalized pens to each signer for years. I also add each signer to my contact list so I can answer their inevitable general notary calls by name. If you service a high population area it’s to your best interest to cultivate it; loan signing is one way that you don’t have to pay for.
I have the same issue. I use Pilot Precise V5 RT in blue and black. They grow legs often. It’s $20 for a box of 12 on Amazon. They always comment on how nice the pens write. Sometimes they ask if they can keep one but a lot of the time they find the pocket before I can grab them all off the table. I try to grab the pens before my notary stamp. Sometimes I feel like the lady attempting to grab the $1 on a string from the old fishing guy. “Gotta be quicker than that”
