This is California related.
Anybody have a perspective on this organization? $99 per year for an advocate membership which is their highest level.
The California League of Independent Notaries
CLIN was started (and is currently managed) by Matt Miller - it was organized to oppose the institution of RON in CAā¦and they were quite successful. I believe they are trying to expand to nationwide, but their being a mobile notary directory is a new wrinkle.
You can read some of Mattās posts in the āLaw Relatedā section of this forum.
Insofar as CAN, or any directory for that matter, my suggestion to anyone ⦠before joining/listing do a Google search (or whatever search engine you use) looking for code words such as notary in (your city/zip/county). When listings come up, does that particular directory appear.
I tried it just now. Iām in Rocklin, California and Iām Spanish-speaking. I searched notary public in Rocklin, CA; notary in 95765; Spanish-speaking notary in Rocklin, CA. CAN never showed up. Perhaps someone searching has to go directly to CAN to find a notary? Dunno.
Personally, I pay for VERY few listings and Iāve been in the business since 2006.
@kevin2 Great question!
Iāve been a member of CLIN for multiple years (to stay-in-touch with the activities within that state).
Never received any Signing Orders [SOs] via that platform. Although, I didnāt expect to receive any considering the intention when signing up.
Also, the āDirectoryā is a new function that I havenāt been aware of to this point in time. So, thank you for sharing that bit of data.

You may have reviewed this thread previously . . . but, just in case . . .
In addition to the excellent suggestion above about performing a Google Search utilizing code words, here is a direct Notary Cafe url wherein you can investigate the saturation within your region.

I like and trust Matt. I think he has our best interest in all heās been involved in. Itās easy to test how successful theyāve been; just google it. Once you get past the sponsored results, there they are. Itās all about the Internet now, and if youāre not there, youāre nowhere. Letās take this site for example. It touts putting a million dollars in signing agentsā pockets, and all I can think of is the million and a half dollars they put in signing servicesā pockets. Since the apparent demise of 123notary .com, title companies have nowhere to find professional notaries and signing agents, so they turn to the signing services whose business model is purely profit motivated. So maybe thereās room for another notary locator service as long as that money is spent on achieving that high ranking on Google.
@ewing_joe I wasnāt criticizing him..just pointing out that a notary directory, maybe nationwide, was something new. I wonāt discuss this any further here, though, out of respect to the Admins here.
I get Linda this post will be gone in 321
Wow, I didnāt mean to start anything! I was just curious about them. I didnāt sign up with CLIN to receive leads as they are not a platform. Rather a forum or maybe another advocate avenue for notaries in CA. Itās only $99 per year. I really donāt care how someone finds my service, as long as they find The Signing Resource! I only paid for one platform service when I started this business and no longer feel the need. I found when you perform accurate, timely work, people start to recognize you and seek you out.
@kevin2 Absolutely correct! Keep up the Great work!

This (and so many other) āattention to the detailsā elements as well as being reliable & responsible are the hallmarks of Excellence.

FYI: Many Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] have employed these principles & scruples (for many years) on a daily basis in an unheralded manner.
They provide their professional services utilizing a quietly dignified demeanor.
They simply let their work demonstrate the Distinction.
