I worked for Amrock more than 8 years. They still have the same fee that they had many years ago. $60.00 + $25.00 for edocs. I had a hybrid signing last week for $75.00. Borrower read every single page on the screen. It took me 2.5 hours to finish the signing. With the living cost that goes up every day, paying for gas $4.50 a gallon in California and the cost of paper and toner that is twice expensive these days, it is not worth to work with Amrock anymore. They can hire newbies.
All while these companies charge upto $600 for work we do.
Yikes. Set the expectation at the beginning of every signing that they have 1 hour. I would have left. I’m not sitting around for 2.5 hours for anyone. They can sign then and ask for a copy to read in depth later if they’re that slow and unaware of the terms this late in the process.
They are getting the newbies, I got a message from the today saying they are getting a lot of mistakes. If they want good work then they need to pay a fair amount, otherwise they will be a forgotten company like so many other companies that have failed.
A colleague shared with me this view of taking responsibility for the work you choose:
“You pick which @$$Hole in town you wanna work for……you shut up and go do it until you can’t stand it anymore, then you quit and go pick another one. Eventually when you get sick of that cycle and get some gumption, then you can take on the risk and become the @$$Hole.”
