DEADBEAT! A Step Above Signing Service

Notaries Beware!! DO NOT accept signings from this company!!
Stay far away unless you want to work for free!!

I did a signing on03/26/2021 $95. Their terms of payment is 45 business days which exclude weekends and holidays!!
I had contacted them on 5/21 was told it would be paid next week. That week came and went with no pay!
The 45 days past, NO PAY!!
Contacted again on June 5 and was told a check was issued and would be send a copy by email of the check sent.
LIE!!! NEVER RECIVED!!!
Contacted again on June 17 and again was told they would send a copy by email.
LIE!!! NEVER RECIVED!!!
Contacted again on June 18 and was told they were not in the office and have no control over USPS !!
Here it is June 25 and still NOT PAID !!!

I see in reviews on BBB she posted “FYI ; I pay all notaries on time. If for some reason you don’t receive a payment contact me”

She does not pay on time and has been contacted by me by phone and text and still refuses to pay!!

Yes, Brian, and many others agree! Sorry you had this experience. :disappointed_relieved:

It appears to be her M/O. I am due one more check, and it’s way past 45 business days for payment. I suggest you send an email to her and cc the lender and the escrow company. I have done a little research on her licenses (and complained to the license departments) for the area she is in - I think the city folks sent her an email or called her. Today (6/30/2021) she emailed me and said she wrote a check thru Deluxe and snail-mailed it to me…and to never call her again (for the record - she texted me). No problem! Remember, the squeaky wheel gets oiled.

she just tried to get me to do a signing for her tonight …HAHAHAHA no way not for a million because I would not be paid!!
Her email “ONCE AGAIN I WILL SEND A COPY AND VERIFY IF CASHED OR NOT IF NOT I WILL BE MORE THEN HAPPY TO REISSUE BUT DON’T EVER ACCUSE ME OF NOT PAYING WHEN YOU DON’T EVEN HAVE THE COMMON SENSE TO SEND A MESSAGE AND INQUIRE”
She never issued a check to me and we have had numerous texts and calls.

Sorry you have to put up with that.
No one should.

I am having the same experience with Angie. No payment for a signing done April 9, 2021. She says she’ll look into it but never follows through. She does reply to your inquiry but nothing ever happens.

Omg I am going through the same exact thing and I am at my wits end. I am a fairly new notary and have only done about 120 signing. This is what happened:

I completed a signing for this company on April 2nd 2021 for a fee of $100. I successfully completed my part of the closing and uploaded scans. According to her policy I should have been getting withing 45 business days. I first contacted the business end of May to inquire about the payment and was told this wasn’t due until first week of June. June came and I still haven’t received anything and this is when the back and forth emails have begun. The owner Angie told me about 3 times that the check has been sent and it wasn’t her fault that I didn’t receive it but she could reissue.

I know the mail is slow at the moment but I received all my other checks more or less on time. It is now July 6th and I still haven’t gotten paid and she had the audacity to write me an email saying I should contact deluxe checks as they are the ones who are printing the checks. This is just a complete nightmare and I can’t believe I fell victim to such a fraudulent company. This lady is scamming people left and right

UPDATE:

Yesterday after contacting BBB and threatening numerous times with attorneys ( I have several ones in my family lol) she sent me an deluxe E CHECK. Finally! I can’t believe after all this she sent an e check anyway when she claims she sent them via regular mail which is BS. She only says that so she can get away with not paying on time so she can blame USPS as e checks are instant and are all tracked and recorded.

Thanks for that advice I will definitely look into that:relaxed::relaxed:

I got my E-check via regular mail, not electronically. That’s another rouse to stall payment. By the way, Angies email got hacked (I know because I blocked her email), and a new email came in asking for money for her niece.

Thanks for your update, CJ. :sparkles: So, you’ve been able to successfully cash it & have been paid now?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the new email wasn’t from angie as well. She’s twisted.

Yes and they even cleared!

No, I truly believe she got hacked. Her email has been blocked.

From all the companies I have worked with, I have not received payment or emails back from this company. It sucks to waste your own resources, paper, time, ink, gas and not be paid. I literally made 5 min FedEx before cutoff same day for the appointment. Wish we could continue working together but that will not be the case. It also sucks to chase down your payment. Luckily, I do have dept collection experience and very familiar with the FDCPA.

Does anyone know if there’s a dept collection thread on here? How others pursue collections on past due accounts?

Are you serious? Do you have a link of any kind?

Unreal…

A Step Above Signing Service
JUST SENT ME A PAYMENT
Get in on the action looks like persistence is the key!

Let me be clear No a step above does not have a new company!! I want nothing to do with you all.
