On Tuesday I received an order for a closing on Friday, using signing order.com. 2 hours after confirming the appointment with the borrower, the signing service canceled the order and said if it becomes available again they would let me know first.
On Thursday, the same exact order came out on my text again for $50 less from several different signing services (4 of them to be exact). I started countering to all 4 with my original cost and eventually got the job back. Later in the day I got a call from one of the signing services that they wanted to use me for the job, but I was already assigned it from a different company. Wouldn’t they already know that? - I was assigned it several hours earlier. They seemed irritated. I was polite on the phone but also a bit baffled.
I am confused… does this happen often? Side note - the company that hired me the first time is a business I have worked for in the past - I do not have any errors from previous signings with them… it’s not a quality of work issue.
Do they hire someone and then cancel in hopes to find a cheaper agent? If so, why hire me to begin with? Also, what’s with 4 different SS trying to get work for the same exact order?
