Haven't Received my first signing

Thank you Linda. I have done most and some foot work but no calls. Just felt skeptical and didnt want to be out of line concerning the platforms and their rules. But I see I’ll have to be a more pushy with my marketing. So the companies don’t mind us newbies calling them? Just wanted to make sure. I have reached out to a realtor I met at a local store but just heard crickets. Again thank you so much. For me now it’s lights, camera, action…

One thing that worked for me when i first started is this… and it was suggested by another notary on this exact same forum and i still do it today.

When you get the notification google the company directly and call them to request the assignment. This has worked for me many times.

Hey there, it’s been awhile since you posted about the $35 trailing docs assignment, I was just really curious as to whether C2C paid you the $125 to go out to the middle of nowhere?? Countering with them is always kind of hit or miss, I’m hoping you got what you asked for! That is just a ridiculous offer for them to even send out in the first place (with that fee)!

They resisted it in snapdocs after I called for $175 and assigned it to another agent… that’s the thanks I got.

LOLOL…good old C2C. Sometimes the orders they send out are almost insulting…BUT, nevertheless, they are one of my favorites to work with. Occasionally I’ll take a HELOC from them for $50 and then I grumble about it the whole time-from print to Fed Ex drop! Lol…

I have this mental game I play on myself, where I don’t keep track of any orders I do that pay below $75, and then get pleasantly surprised with an unexpected extra $100 or so. :rofl::rofl::rofl:. It’s the little things in life…

C2C is the only company I’d do that with, BTW. I know they’re going to pay me (never experienced an issue with them). When I get these from other companies I always counter $250-300 knowing I won’t get them BUT rather than just decline them, why not?? I got paid $850 last November for an order sent out at 6 pm to be done that same night at 9:00 pm. They initially offered $200, I countered at $1000 and messaged them that it was 110 miles away and for me is an “after hours” signing. They countered at $500, I countered $850-done deal. Not sure if do it again because of how late and far it was…it took 7 hours to do with everything considered. :roll_eyes:

Others may not believe that you got paid $850 for a signing but I believe you! :grin:

I know, right?? Well, maybe if I explain it, it’ll be more “believable”.

This was for a purchase, for a home in San Francisco. The purchase price was $6.2 million. The listing agent paid my fee. Enough said. :+1:

Someone said that we should not contact the company directly. I’m confused. I’ve spent a lot of money on this notary business and I’m not happy with it anymore but I am not giving up. I love the idea of being a good notary and I am dependable but nothing is coming my way.

It’s a hit and miss… some companies like it others don’t. I call all I can until they tell me not to call or until they tell me different. So far no one has said not to call.

Keep in mind, it’s because you’re in GA…an attorney-only state. You may get signings for out-of-state properties but those are probably few and far between - you can’t do loan signings for GA properties. You need to redirect your marketing strategies to non-loan-signing niches…basically GNW - that’s where you’ll get work; maybe couple it with Legal Document Assistant (if available in GA) or something like that…preparing legal docs for the pro se folks.

Sounds so nice. I’m happy for you. Your location is serving you well. Mine on the other hand is dry as a bone. I got one signing within the past 3 months that was already taken when I agreed to take it. GNW not doing anything at all this year. I just started last October and had 4 customers but that’s it. I think this whole thing is a rip off! I had to go back on the frontline to get real work. This isn’t even a side job much less a business.

Location plays a huge roll in this business. I would suggest networking and collaborating with other notaries in your area. Yes, I know most notaries are not willing to give advice as you are competition to them but sometimes you can get lucky and someone that is confident in their work will actually help you! Good Luck!

I’m inclined to ask you what you did to market yourself. How many companies did you contact and sign up with? How much follow-up did you do on those contacts. In this business, any downtime is marketing time over and over and over again - never let them forget you’re out there.

Depending on your location this can be a viable business - 6-figure? I don’t think so but, IMO, it is not a ripoff and can most definitely be a good sideline job.

I concur! This is my “side business “ and it’s doing exactly what I expect it to do, which is bringing in additional income. Downtime is marketing, networking and learning for me! If you put in the work it definitely pays off! Maybe not 6 figure’s but it pays off.

I think the location is very critical to how you get business. If you’re in a centrally located area with a lot of businesses nearby you will get business. I have clients who come to me for I-9 service, loan signings, and all other sorts of document help; which I help for free but they want to pay me for my time so I just ask them to tip whatever they want… I love helping people and I think this shows and these customers tell everyone about your business…
