I got the same email, Just have not vetted them yet. Kind of was wondering the same thing about whether they are legit or just phishing.

EDIT: OMG NEVER, NEVER, NEVER provide ACH unless you absolutely trust who is requesting it!

Always write the name of the business word for word, letter for letter. Always check the SOS website and the notary lookup website for whichever state you are searching.

In this case, I found a company called ā€œPACIFIC NORTHWEST CONSULTING & SIGNING SERVICES LLCā€ with a mailing address of 1924 W MONTGOMERY AVE, SPOKANE, WA, 99205-4158, if this is the one you are referring to. This company appears to be brand new and was created by a recently commissioned Washington notary public. It appears ā€œlegitā€ā€¦ But this company is so new that its articles of incorporation have not yet been filed? I see the Governor is listed as Melissa Collier. And a quick search on the WA notary website shows a Melissa L Collier out of Spokane, Washington notary license #23014998. Nothing wrong with being a new notary - we all have to start somewhere. But I hope she gains some practical notary experience before jumping into being a signing service. Hope this helps you.

I’d be very cautious. Seems to be a rash of newb-notaries trying this route to riches. They are mostly underfunded, inexperienced (as notaries & business owners) and desperately working from home.

@bluejmobilenotary :prohibited: Wise decision :prohibited: as a business owner to vet the new potential client FIRST! Excellent work! :white_check_mark:

With the results of my direct Research on the internet for that business entity name, it would be a Hard Pass. CAUTION.

Found a website for Pacific Northwest Signings: pacificnorthwestsigning. The website does not give an address. I reached out to them via their ā€œcontact usā€ page. Will update if I ever hear back from them.

Yellow Pages has a listing for them with a PO Box in Vancouver, WA: Pacific Northwest Signings - Vancouver, WA 98668

Yes this is the one that contacted me, @Carmen_Lane this is the company word for word not the one you have listed, I’ve looked at the webpage and fb page, I may just wait a while but I have found their website and FB couldn’t find them on Linkedin.

Still too many red flags for me and the ACH request is a kicker. Not giving my banking info to randos willynilly especially when we have to hunt down their business contact info.

I sent a private message – at least I hope that was you I sent it to LOL. Going to re-check now. It’s been a long day.

I sent you the email to see make sure you delete it of course.

OK – just replied with some interesting info

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t you need integrity to be a notary?

Apparently, not any more.

There are newbie notaries out there with integrity but noticing some notaries jumping in with know it all attitudes and don’t want to play well with others. This behavior happening currently in many areas of business :upside_down_face:

I received the invite too but haven’t filled out the onboarding packet. I don’t like having my bank information out there, maybe they are good with e-checks instead?

After more than 30 years in business, I’ve learned it’s best to keep a separate online business checking account for situations like this. If I’m not familiar with a company, I prefer not to share access to my main account.

You all are so judgmental, honestly. All the services started somewhere. Their application process includes an option for receiving checks.

As with many services I sign up with, I had not heard of them until you posted the information.

I reviewed their facebook page and LinkedIn listing and they are a fairly new operation. But they look legitimate, just new.

You do not have to ask for direct deposit with them, you can specify you want a check sent to avoid sending your banking info out of the gate.

I could not upload from their application process, but I got an immediate reply via email. I’m actually preferred by several of the title offices in Spokane, so this could work out great is how I look at it.

The big thing with new services is docs preparation. Especially in WA State where the REETA has to be on legal, out of state signing services send it the wrong size all the time. So the first job will tell me a lot. But I don’t immediately decide someone brand new isn’t someone I can work with.

And they’ll need a stable as they pursue business as a signing service. So we’ll see what happens.

Judgmental??!! I gotta tell ya, as a former fraud investigator (banking), one cannot be too judgmental, especially in this business. Reputable signing services should adopt creative and verifiable methods for bringing on reputable notaries. I won’t provide those methods here because the bad guys will just find ways around them. And make no mistake, they read these forum posts closely to learn what we’re all doing and complaining about.

I would not sign up after receiving a solicitation to join someone’s service without thoroughly (THOROUGHLY) checking them out first. Why give away your social security number, bank account info and all the rest to absolute strangers, often more than one state away? Check ā€˜em out, kids.
