Somebody just got $140 for a 27 pg. Seller pkg

Because they couldn’t find anyone to do it for $90 on New Year’s Eve. Point being, they CAN pay better and it’s up to us to make them do so.

Not very surprising, especially at the end of the month and close of the year. Buyer and seller wanted to take advantage of 2024 taxes. Year’s Eve, I made $125 completing a mortgage modification, which took less than 20 minutes. Like Arichter stated, companies are able to pay appropriately.

I’ve gotten a few seller packages in that range but those came directly from title. They were all for 40 pages or less and I was stoked each time that I got one but that should be the norm, not the exception. Thanks for being an advocate for notaries charging appropriate fees for the value that we provide!

Agreed. This past month a CA signing service working directly with a CA Title Co. offered $200 for a 29 page out-of-their-area Seller pkg., 3 miles away, no scan and I received payment in 11 days. The HUD showed $250, so the SS made $50 for making a phone call, while I received the larger portion because I did the work. That’s the way it used to be AND the way it should still be and all we need to do is say no to low! Kick the platforms to the gutter.

They CAN pay better but why should they when there is always someone willing to work for peanuts?

Yea the holiday times you definitely get the highest rates plus when it snows that also helps too. I did a 20 page on New Years Day for 175 lol.Happy New Year.

I definitely will start refusing low paying jobs. It IS up to us to get paid properly for our expertise.

Goodmorning yes that’s the right attitude to have about those unreasonable rates they offer to pay for our work, wear & tear on our equipment & our bodies!! Say no & JUST COUNTER, if the Notaries stop feeling desperate they can get more…and if you don’t get the signings oh well, you didnt have it anyway before the notification came!! Remember offers from a Title Company will pay you more than a SS will (they are the middle man in the equation squeezing a fee in to contact you). Stand your ground on your fees & don’t be afraid to ask for a larger pay! You are a professional, not a cut throat, cheaply hired hand to fill in in a pinch!!! Happy New Year CNSA’S!

We should get paid more for Sundays an holidays. Out here Seller’s packages are low-ball through platforms. SD has them for as low as $40 for a mobile home (under thirty pages, one or no notarization) but non manufactured home/mobile home packages average at $70. There is a wide range of work associated with Seller packages, some involve trusts, some are 1031 exchanges, some have multiple sellers. I have timidly increased my fee on a Fidelity platform but only get over $100 if a scan is involved. I get less offers than before but still get work.

Last week MC got up to $150 on one of their offers so I know it “can” be done. It was a Hybrid refi which for them was still 95 pp and about 10 minutes away. I got the $40 offer the day before, countered with my normal $100. Didn’t hear back so I assumed someone countered lower than I.
I took another assignment at the same time on Friday so when the offer came around again about 3 hours prior to the closing, I declined. That $40 went to $50, $60, $70, $100 and then to $150 1 hour before. I stopped responding after the original decline at $40 and figured someone took the $150.
Guess what came back for tomorrow at 5pm? That $40 offer again at the same address! I countered at $150 (lol), it went to $50, then I countered at $100 and they accepted immediately.
My guess is whoever took that original offer backed out the same day which is something I never have done.
I now consider MC a “filler” if I don’t have something else going on. And yes, I’ve received more than $140 for small packages too when doing direct.

More’n likely, they just decided to ‘start over next day’. Really hate the platform/app games.

Oh, it gets better. Talked to borrower - they said the other notary didn’t show last week and but then they said the lender told them they no longer were to esign some docs. They said the lender told them they will sign all of the docs.
Called MC back and asked them to remove me from the signing if it changes to full docs since I don’t have time in my schedule for a full docs at that time. Lender had not yet conveyed info to them and they were still showing a hybrid.
Right hand meet left hand.

YES!

Yes, I’ve done seller packages in the range of $125-$200. They’re out there and you get paid from title.
