What Printer Do You Have?

I’m curious what others are using to print docs? I have been using the Brother mfc-l3770cdw. Although not technically dual tray I use the feeder for legal size and it’s been great. It’s a little rough scanning large packets because I have to break it into smaller segments but it’s been a great printer thus far.

At some point when I look to upgrade, I’m looking for recommendations.

Thanks,

@RickOShay Hmmm . . . :thinking:

Just wondering if by any chance were you able to locate the immediately available information found within the Notary Cafe database on printers.

This information is a TREASURE TROVE of data!

Here’s one thread to Review.

Most members express that they find it difficult/NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE to locate the Search Function in order to access the wealth of information available within the database that has been generously contributed by your sagacious fellow business owners over the years . . .

To be helpful, I’ve inserted an image for you & others [see below] to help members locate it to unlock the wisdom & knowledge of other members on the forums.

I’ve performed a cursory Search on your behalf and the results show 17 separate threads (in addition to yours) about the printer topic. There is a plethora of data immediately available on the threads within Notary Cafe. :sparkles::tulip:

http://forum.notarycafe.com/search?q=%22best+printer%22

There is one recent thread & the others are from previous years; however, the recommendations are solid & reliable over time.

Some Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] strongly recommend the brand of Brother Multi-Function printers.

Some other PSAs say that HP is the best.

Of course, there are others who say Xerox is the best.

SPECIAL NOTE: Accessing the database to locate information about potential clients has saved many of us an inordinate amount of time ‘chasing’ payments for Services professionally provided to potential non-payers . . . :crown:

I lease 2 Kyocera ecosys M3860idnf printers for our business offices and a Brother multi-function for the home office. I mostly use the Brother. The Kyoceras are big standing floor model printers, but if you have room you can pick up a refurbished M3860 for about $800. Laser cartridges are $45 each and yield about 25,000 copies. The high-speed scanner feature is awesome and will scan 120 pages in 5 minutes.

Apologies, you are right, I should have searched it first

@RickOShay No worries. Just was asking if you had Searched . . . as it wasn’t noted within your Original Post [OP] . . . & then provided a few threads for Review. :tada:

Hopefully, you’ll find the detailed information in those threads to be helpful.

During your Research, if there is a particular brand or model that catches your eye  in those threads, just Reach Out via those threads or Direct Message [DM] to that Notary Cafe member to query them directly for additional data.

.

Of course, ONLY purchase a laser printer.

Some new Professional Signing Agents [PSAs] try to ‘squeak by’ using an inkjet and this is a BIG :prohibited:No, No” within this business sector.

.

Regarding my direct experience, I’ve utilized Brother printers from the onset (nearly two decades) & they are TRUE workhorses! :sparkling_heart: Love Them! :sparkling_heart: My current model is MFC-L6800DWT (dual tray). It’s a model that’s no longer manufactured.

Been using printers a long time and I found the Brother HL-L5200DW dual tray B&W printer to be perfect for the volume of work that I do (Lots!). Takes Staples TruRed Copy paper $50 for a 10 ream case or Costco 10 ream case (8 12 X 11) and 8 1/2 X 14 paper with the Adobe separater software doing the hard work. I use an Epson ES 400 II scanner that has never had a jam for my scanning work. Fast, easy to use.
Hope this is useful info. You’ll see that everybody swears by their gear. It’s all good. Gauge your volume and preferences and you’ll be fine. Just don’t skimp. Nothing’s worse (NOTHING!) than having your gear quit on your busiest day ever. Aaaargh! :grimacing:

At the home office, I have an HP MFP 4101fdw. I bought it and the 2nd tray from the HP website. In the car, I have a Brother 2420 single tray from Walmart. I use a page sorter when I use that one.

Hi, I started off 2022 with the Brother MFC-L5850DW all in one Duel Tray Laser Printer, which I keep in my home office. I started getting irritated with the scanner. It started to eat up my paper and get jammed all the time. I then purchased in 2024 the Brother HL6210W Duel Tray Laser Printer. I love this one so much, and this is also in my home office! Well as my business started picking up I decided to have a mobile office so I purchased in 2025 another Brother HL6210W Duel Tray Laser Printer for my vehicle. I also have in my vehicle a back up Brother HL-L2460DW Wireless Compact Monochrome Laser. I am glad there is a forum dedicated for the technology we use!

I use the Brother DCP-L2640DW. I love this printer. Yes, it is a single tray, and I use the manual feed for legal-size paper. I love the scan feature the most. It does a great job on my documents. I don’t do a lot of closing, but I have found this is one of the best printers I have had in my arsenal in a long time.

HP COLOR LASER JET PRO MFP M477 with dual trays. It’s a work horse and never breaks down but the ink cartridges are very expensive and the off brand cartridges tend to streak.

I like Xerox products. I have a B315. Trying a cartridge from Amazon to see if it’s any good.

Use the bypass tray for legal also. Prints about 38 pages a minute. Scans 35 pages a minute onto disc. Max feed for scan is 50 pages I think so most packages have to be broken down. Which Is better anyway because many service websites have size constraints on scan back files.

I have used Brother products for years. I currently have a single tray DCP-L2640DW. It works great for me. I use it for everyday use and my notary business. I load legal-size documents in the bypass tray for these sizes. The scan feature with their software works great for creating one file to send back with both sizes of documents. I opted for the least expensive option, and it works perfectly for me.
