Thanks for posting your update and SO VERY glad you finally received your funds.
HOWEVER. Paying VERY late (if ever) is Prestige’s modus operandi … and, by extension, Jennifer Garland’s MO. They have a consistent history of that “payment method.” Just check every notary forum you can find. Given that fact, is she REALLY having issues getting paid from a title company or is she running a type of ponzi scheme? Think about it. Prestige hires a notary to do a signing – more than likely a newbie because that newbie may not be familiar with their poor-pay record. Pays them. Then, they hire that notary for a very few more signings and pay them each time stretching the pay period a little more – just enough to keep the notary interested. After those first 3-5 paid signings, the notary is kept waiting several months for payment. When the notary notifies Prestige to pay up or else the notary will contact title, then Jennifer sends an apology letter (probably a template) saying she’s having payment issues herself but will push through that notary’s payment. BINGO! That notary is paid by monies withheld from other notaries AND the paid notary will more than likely keep working for Prestige thereby making them money but will eventually be left hanging out to dry when the tables turn and someone else gets paid and the original notary is not.
Prestige has been doing this for years. Jennifer has several companies, including the platform Notary Dash. Notary Dash is free for notaries. Notary Dash gets paid by the hiring party (i.e. title/escrow, lender, signing service). As marlassocalnotary posted, they should have a line of credit. With all her businesses combined, she probably has the income to qualify. According to her website, Jennifer is a world traveler. Jennifer Garland – Entrepreneur, Mentor & Legal Services Visionary Perhaps that’s where the notaries’ monies are spent?
Personally, I’ve learned by the experience of others. I’ve never worked with Jennifer or any of her companies. My above thoughts are purely on conjecture.
As a side note: Several years ago, Jennifer reached out to me – out of the blue. Guess she read some of my (negative) comments about her company(ies) and wanted to explain but she was traveling (something about getting a sick pet to a vet) and would call me when she had some additional time. Never did hear back. I didn’t pursue the issue. She didn’t owe me any money and, thereby, didn’t owe me any explanation.
